Ozzy Osbourne solo (vs) Black Sabbath w/ Ozzy (vs) Black Sabbath w/ Dio

As far as 'contest' goes it is only a matter of opinion (whether it be popular or not).
Like I said before I do like Ozzy's stuff with Sabbath but would rank Dio's stuff much higher than his, simply for 'Computer God' alone.

I actually like Ozzy more as a solo artist, than I did @ any time w/Sabbath. I like a few songs by Sabbath, but they're not the greatest ****ing group so many think of them as.

I've seen Ozzy solo once in '88, and he was awesome. My all time favorite Ozzy song is: Shot in the Dark.

Also, I love Dio, and think the "H&H" stuff he/they did, was excellent. I didnt care much for him w/Sabbath, but solo wise, Dio rocks.

I love Ozzy's work. The first 4 albums in the Sabbath catalog are great. Looking back on some of these posts I don't see why Dio is getting a bad rep. He has an amazing voice and put out some other great albums to such as Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules.

Trashed was great too. If it was anything else than a Sabbath album then it would have been half decent.

This is what came later for Sabbath. The title track is named after a village that I lived very near to and visited many times in my youth. I had a friend who lived there and I spent a couple of weekenRAB down there.

Damn it is bad!

As I said before- I much prefer Ozzy-era Sabbath. However the albums with Dio were still very very good. How can any Metal fan not love 'Falling Off The Edge Of The World'?

I actually have the Ian Gillan album 'Born Again'.
I would class it as 'awful junk' though.
I dont mind it but it ranks lower than most other Sabbath albums.
To me Ian Gillan (as much as I love Deep Purple & he is a cracking vocalist)
he just isnt suited to Black Sabbath.

Oh come on, there are so many riRAB and songs that are amazing by R.R and Z.W, but if we're judging on skill, then its Zakk and Randy, (others are Buckethead, Yngwie, and Satch)

But if we're going on memorable riRAB then I still say Zakk and Randy.

Remeraber, we're not judging by inspirational content, because Iommi's inspired millions. We're judging by skill.

Ozzy era Sabbath > Ozzy solo > Dio era Sabbath

Nothing against Dio, I love his work with Rainbow and some of his solo stuff, and while he had some good stuff with Sabbath it's a bit too much on the generic side for me, it doesn't really sound like Sabbath and I consider it a completely different band.

Ozzy's solo stuff may have been more commercial, but it's still the Oz and you can't confuse it with anything else. The Blizzard of Ozz is great fun metal record. RhoaRAB really was a great player, had a beastly tone and his solos sound like the sky should collapse from their metal awesomeness.

Zakk Wydle can just f*ck off. I can't get over how much of a raging douchebag he is. He doesn't impress me as a guitarist, he hardly does anything that ever approaches listenability, there is never a f*cking moment when this guy feels that a pinch harmonic wouldn't fit in there somehow.

Oh yeah, and he's a TERRIBLE songwriter, listen to this sh*t (or try anyway).

And this guy had the audacity to call Cobain a hack.

No one can quite make there guitar scream quite like him tho.

Wayfarer: And sure it may get old watching his solo's o on for hours but he has done a ton of work for other artists thats all different and fantastic.
