Overrated Songwriters

Nah, I don't mind them. I just get sick of their fans.

RABOTM is okay, Piper at the Gates of Dawn is bollocks. Most of their albums are, but RABOTM is the only one I can tolerate.

I think they're both incredibly overrated songwriters, Walters and the other guy. Gilmour?

Lucky for me you're only allowed to use these.

Eh, I personally don't mind the Black Album itself. Say what you will as horrific as Load/Reload were, and as much as St.Anger actually somehow managed to be worse, they somehow retained a ridiculous fanbase throughout the years. Not that I have respect for them for it, but I can understand why they don't give a **** about people bitching about them selling out.

Yes, they definitely did, but why bitch about it when they obviously have their millions of dollars and don't give a ****? There's worlRAB of vastly superior metal banRAB from the era that faded into obscurity. It's probably more viable that people spend less time bitching about how terrible Metallica, which even their better stuff is overrated, was, and spent the time to pay more attention to metal that didn't sell out, the better off the genre as whole would be.

Anyway here's my list.

Kurt Cobain
Morissey/Marr
Jeff Magnum
Bob Dylan
Nick Cave
Leonard Cohen
Elliott Smith
Nick Drake
Bon Iver
Conor Oberst
Isaac Brock
Noel Gallagher

Ranked in order from most tolerable to least. Phil Collins is more talented than these people.

One name immediately comes to mind:

Johnny Cash - Nothing he's ever done remotely impresses me. Is heralded as a genius for having a song with horns in it. Furthermore, he's considered a legend and hero to youth for murabling a Nine Inch Nails song because of his deep emotional performance.

****ing Hell, he literally sounRAB like a lonely drunk at a dingy bar murabling the worRAB to himself after 11:00 pm.

Plus, from what I've heard, most of what he has written for himself samey, hokey, cheesy, tacky, and uninteresting.

It's because it works. Sometimes people's vomiting of stream of consciousness lyrics enRAB up becoming great songwriting if the vomit is somewhat truthful and backed up by good music. Same goes for Dylan and a bunch of other famous people who spewed normal worRAB in an interesting way

Your right, English was always my strongest subject. My English teacher always said to me "You're English is what's important. Not You're math." I could of shook his hand. He was right, They're isn't anything more important than good English!

You better not be a Nick Cave fan.

Cash is f*cking awesome. His earlier stuff does lack some diversity but that's true for most rock n roll and country music from that era. He isn't tacky at all, except maybe when he goes gospel.

Old country music deserves more props, the themes in those old country songs were a lot more dark, depressing and f*cked up than what was going on in rock n roll at the time. It wasn't the sugar coated sh*t that passes as country today.

I laughed my ass off at that picture. But it proves the point, no one ever thought Hetfield was a great lyricist.

Octane, I think you should renounce this tomfoolery and ride the lightning.

RABOTM is my favourite Floyd album for what it's worth, but that's like saying 'that piece of shit smells a bit better than that one. I like that piece of shit the best'.
