Overnet Lite

Um i'm not getting any download files.... the availability is 20 and i still can't connect I got the regular overnet with the host file fixes because i can't find overnet lite even by searching it in overnet the speeds suck right now and i can't find the reg edit file and i don't have the pro.dll file arrrgggg it's a mess! someone help!! :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

Now it can't even connect jsut stuck on the checking registration thingy
 
this was good. unfortunetly i had already made this installer a couple of weeks ago. so it basically serve no purpose to me since its the same thing. one comment though. u may want to change that skin cause it sucks

It has always been my expirience that proxies are best for surfing, not for downloading files, escpecially P2P applications.

The only ones who can fix that is the orginal authors of Overnet.

I trashed eDonkey Lite since eMule just is better.

I'll repack them either later today or tomorrow.

when you register EDONKEY/OVERNET it tries to connect to the edonkey/overnet official site to validate what you have typed.
If you block this access, you can type anything in for username and password, the ADs will disappear

So, edit (with Notepad) your hosts file

Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\
Windows NT/2000/XP c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
-or-
c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\
(you may need administrator access for Windows NT/2000/XP)

and add theses two lines:

CODE
127.0.0.1 reg.edonkey2000.com
127.0.0.1 reg.overnet.com

Those problem would happen with the normal Overnet too, the only thing you can do is to report the problems to MetaMachine (http://forum.overnet.com/), but please don't mention Overnet Lite, I don't wanna get shutdown like K-Lite1 ;) :lol: :D :P

If you can't get Overnet Lite to work on 98/ME just delete the Pro.dll in:
C:\Path\To\Overnet\Plugins

To MvM, edwatch.exe aren't used a bit by overnet.
 
Hey Tmpj,

How is the develoment of Overnet Lite going? Ever found a way to make "Do not show files to anyone" a default setting. I beleve if you set Overnet lite like that then save the config files (maybe just "pref.met") it could work.
 
This overnet lite is GREAT but has some problems!
firstly running XPPro 512Mb 256ASDL

I've been using emule sivka for about a year now
starts of at nothing - after 12Hrs maybe 5-8KB/Sec
if i try to download more than 8 items it usually can't connect to any servers ?

tried overnet lite last night
copied over all my emule temp files
it hashed them all okay
got the usual 8 items downloading
left the settings alone

(1) - does overnet lite have error checking like emule ?
does it check each chunk coming in or only when it hashes the file
when you first start the program?

after 1 minute downloading at 5KB/Sec
15 minutes 15KB/Sec
sometimes 7-20KB/Sec
i saw it peaking around 27KB/Sec for short periods
this makes emule speeds suck, nearly as fast as kazaalite for me!

BUT -
gone to bed
in the morning uploads 0, sources 0, downloads 0
in the bottom boxes - "checking REGISTRATION"
.......... mmmmmm !!! ???
reboot
go to work
come home from work
uploads 0, sources 0, downloads 0
in the bottom boxes - "checking FIREWALL"
.......... mmmmmmm !!! ???
don't have a firewall , nortons is already "disable auto-protect"
XPPro firewall is disabled & in the bottom box - "open"
reboot
5 minutes
a message "unthred : DISCONNECTED
unthred - [automated error]
your client is probally using stolen client hashes
has been banned"
........... mmmmmmm !!! ???

Oh man, thats a harder one. The question about Overnet's hash features can be answered at http://forum.overnet.com/
Don't mention my Overnet Lite, I don't want them to bust me or the K-Lite board! :P ;) :lol:

I'm sad to say it but I don't know exactly what it could be, but I've heard that Overnet's plugin feature opens a security hole whitch can allow code execution, that might be what messed up your Overnet.

I hope this is fixed in the next Overnet version. Incl. I only use Overnet for smaller files and keeps an eye on it, until this hole is fixed.

2) You got a porn movie in the end, so what you complaining about? :lol:
3) When BT goes down, i bet you'll be reconsidering it again :01:
 
Is there anyway to get emule to regonise partial downloads after using overnet? I had a look at overnet and imported all my partial downloads into it but now when I try and open emule it spews out errors for all the partial downloads (Loaded hashset is corrupt! File: *.*.part.met). Overnet hasn't really improved my speeds and I have emule set up nicely so if theres anyway to get emule to recognize the partial downloads again I want to try it.
