It's true isn't it?
Look at all the dross that is out just now that we are dying to see just because they are advertised on the telly
And then we go and see them only to wish we'd spent it on a takeaway.
We even buy the latest DVD's just because they are 'out' on release....but we watch it once and sling it into a slot somewhere in the collection.
But the true greats are the ones that come out time and time again....or are given some kind of special space in amongst that giant collection that we've collected.
These films always get buried amongst everything else, but invariably come to surface time and time again.
If we haven't seen it in years....we slot it in the DVD and are hit with the same impact (sometimes more, after seeing it a second time) and are again in the same awe and respect that we first felt for this movie.
Is there anything that has came out this past year or so that can be measured against some of the greats like 'The Godfather'; 'The Shawshank Redemption'; Schindler's List'; 'Star Wars'; ...........etc etc.
I can mention a couple. But even as far as measuring them against the greats, doesn't really cut it in my opinion.
I truly think this past couple of years has produced really poor movies and nothing to pin right up there with the greats.
So what do you think?
