it's quite unfortunate, but the excuse given is absolutely pathetic: overcrowding. They let these ***holes out because prisons are already overcrowded. They keep murderers in there, but not serial sexual predators. It's absolutely ludicrous. If *i* ever met one, i'd beat 'im to a pulp! Our laws will never change....
...The only good, at least in my state (New Jersey), is the whole Meghan's Law thing. Basically, the rest of the life of a sex offender is completely ruined. They have to register as a sex offender, and remain on that registry until the day they die. They have a criminal record that they can never expunge (ask the court to "remove" the charge), and finding a job is nearly impossible. They are prevented from being within x miles from a school, and they are watched by hawks. More and more of their lives are taken away from them, and they end up restricted to doing nearly nothing. Their lives and reputations are forever ruined as a result. That's really the only good thing to come out of it. i'm not sure what things are like in other states, but at least we've got that goin on over here in Jersey...
