OTA For Nexus One Enables Multi Touch

Woot!! I was just about to post this after I read it on BoyGeniusReport

I was definitely planning to upgrade to Cyanogen 5.0 once it is out of Beta... but now I will be able to stick with the official OTA from Google for a little while longer.

I do not have time to root my device right now... I am extremely swamped with school and work. Since CM5.0 will be my first custom ROM and first attempt and rooting an Android device, I want to make sure I have plenty of time for research and troubleshooting (should anything go wrong).

But is it necessary to relock before applying this OTA update?

I've previously rooted my N1 using Amon Ra's procedure. I just want to verify what I have to do in order to install this OTA..

Is it the following? ...

1. Apply Amon Ra's recovery image.
2. Relock (is this really necessary here)?
3. Accept the OTA.
4. Re-root using Amon Ra's standard procedure.

Thanks in advance.

I believe you just need to restore that first nandroid you made after getting root, manually update and then reroot. As consty said you can't relock the bootloader as of yet.

I'm using Amon Ra's ROM, mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612858

Is there a way I can query my N1 to get the exact ROM ID? Here is some info from my About phone screen:

Firmware version 2.1
Baseband version: 32.19.00.16U_4.02.02.14
Kernel version: 2.6.29-gad36b87
Build number: ERD79

With regard to relocking, I have to admit that I don't quite understand this concept. What is the reason for relocking and the advantage of doing so? If I try to upgrade to this new OTA, is it first necessary to relock, or can I ignore this step?

Thanks again.

me either, i rarely have 3g at my house, and only certain areas around town, but i went ahead and turned off the 2g only option, just in case. we'll see...
