Oscar Nominations

Hopefully Brokeback Mountain will win best picture and best directed. Plus stunning lead and co-star performances! It might sweep them all.

But will the acedemy go for this??

And what else should be up for nomination??

I'm so glad Jake Gyllenhall's been nominated - all the fuss before hand was around Heath Ledger, whereas I thought they were both equally fantastic. Actually, I'm just glad the whole movie's got what it deserved :D

I'd like to see Brokeback Mountain and Crash getting a lot nominations. But, I still can't decide how likely either of these films are to do well with the Academy. Think even if Heath is nominated he'll probably miss out to the guy from Capote whose name I can't remember right now.

Would also love to see Reese Witherspoon getting an Oscar even though I haven't seen the film yet.

Yes i do agree that Crash should be nominated very strong film and solid performaces and totally different to Brokeback.

Has "Munich" made it in time to be nominated because i can imagine that this will do very well with the academy.

I am really suprised that Star Wars didnt get visual effects nom,but i am pleased that they were given a nod in the best make up,Dave and Lou Elsley and the team did a really great job,i think that its great that so much British talent was given noRAB,Judi Dench,Kiera Knightly and Rachel Weisz,by the way i hope that Wallace and Gromit wins best animated film-they deserve it -it was fab!!

It made it into most other award nominations so I should think so. It'll probably get a few nominations too - director/film as opposed to the acting awarRAB I'd think from the big awarRAB.

I think Cillian Murphy should be nominated for Best actor following is wondreful portrayal of a transvestite in Breakfast on Pluto!

I find it rather annoying that the Beeb are only reporting the British nominees, as though this is the Eurovision Song Contest or something. I want to know the full list, not just the actresses!

Hope Wallace and Gromit wins, because it's such a sweet film, and Nick Park always wears a groovy bow tie. I just saw Walk the Line, and Reese Witherspoon should definately win Best Actress. The others.....I'm not too sure on. As long as Brokeback Mountain gets Best Film and Director, I'm not really bothered...

Ditto re Jake, his performance is superb, but does seem to be getting slightly lost in all the praise for Heath's, equally superb, performance.

Not that i want Eric Bana to win Best Actor (go Heath) or Walk The Line to win Best Picture (again, go Brokeback) but they are both quite shocking noms to be left out.

Some categories are very exciting this year (Best Supporting Actress, Best Animated) but others are very uninspired (ie Best Actress)

Kiera Knightley nommed for best actress.
Dont get me wrong i think she's really weet, but that's a joke!!

Also William Hurt for A History of Violence in the most hammed up role ever??

Shame there's not more awarRAB for The Constant Gardener, which for me is the best film of last year. Ralph Fiennes and Fernando Mierelles were amazing as actor and director. At least Rachel Weisz was recognised. Can't say I'm really surprised though. These Oscar's are dominated, once again, by 'issues' films and whilst TCG is an issues film of sorts, it's not issues that the US would want to readily acknowledge or praise (how the big US drugs companies ride roughshod over the African countries to test their products at the expense of the local populations).

I think it's going to be Brokeback Mountain, Crash and Capote getting the main nominiations. Much as I'd love to see Jake actually win best supporting actor, I think he'll probably loose out as his performance seems to have been overshadowed by the buzz around Heath, likewise Michelle Williams will probably miss out, even though she is perfect as Alma, although I expect all three to receive nominations. I actually need to see Crash again, I had a stinking cold and felt ill when I went and the majority of it passed me by, I think the cold remedy kicked in and I dozed off for a while :o

Brokeback should walk away with the best cinematography (or what ever it's called) Award, who knew a bunch of sheep on a hill could look so god damm beautiful :)

I dont think Star Wars will get any noms-but i do agree about Cillian Murphy he was brilliant in Breakfast on Pluto, but i do think that Liam Neeson should get a nom for Batman Begins the whole thing was special when he was on the screen and also it will make up for the nom they didnt give him last year for Kinsey(which he really did deserve!!)

When you look back however at the amount of best pictures have actually been weepies "Titanic" "The English Patient" and the fantastic "Terms of Endearment" so it might have a chance and appeal to the voters.

But Crash is also such a good film, but your right Agent Krycek the cinematography in Brokeback superceeRAB that to Crash totally. Will be an interesting battle... thats if they even get nominated!
