Orphans in animation

Just like the only children in animation thread, this thread can describe orphans in animated shows. Feel free to discuss!

Until information is revealed, Chowder and Flapjack seem to be orphans themselves :chowder: :radda:
 
One of the most well-known (I think) is Arnold from Hey Arnold!.


Other ones I can think of are Aelita from Code Lyoko (as of the end of the fourth season, as far as we know), as well as her look-alike from the Season 1 episode "Girl of the Dreams", Taelia.
 
There doesn?t seem to be a whole lot of orphans in animated programs, and the ones that are orphans don?t seem to have that fact emphasized very often. In ?The Replacements?, Todd and Riley were orphans but that was really only touched upon in the opening sequence and in the series finale. Their parents had apparently died ? so their millionaire uncle opened up the FleemCo Replacement Service in order to get their lives back on track.
 
There was Mark, aka Ace Goodheart from Gathchaman/Battle of the Planets/G-Force. In fact, I think that all of the teens on G-Force were orphans except for Tiny/Hooty, whose parents were both still alive and happily married.
 
The Disney Afternoon was littered with orphans:

- Kavin (Gummi Bears), the knight's page/stable boy was never shown referring to his parents. To that extent, Cubbi, Sunni, and Tummi *might have* fallen into that category, unless their parents were alive with the remaining Gummi's overseas.

- Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby, and Bubba (Ducktales) never had any direct parentange referenced.

- Gadget (Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers) I don't how old she was supposed to be, but I always took it she was orphaned at a young age when mentioning her dad had passed.

- Kit Cloudkicker (Talespin) He doesn't directly say it, but it's heavily implied he was orphaned and taken in by the pirates in the pilot.

- Gosalyn (Darkwing Duck) orphaned and taken in by Drake Mallard.

- Aladdin (At least until the 'King of Thieves' movie/series finale)

- The trio (Gargoyles). I know somewhere in the show it's said that the hatchlings are raised by the whole clan, but even so, unless Goliath, Hudson, or Coldstone fathered one of them, their parents HAD to have been part of the clan slaughter.

- A good chunk of the pups on '101 Dalmations the series' beyond Pongo & Perdie's intitial liter.

- Tarzan was orphaned in the movie before being taken in by the apes.
 
Sophie and Zhalia from Huntik are both orphens, and for both of them it plays a big part in the plot. Zhalia joined the bad guys to escape life on the street, and Sophie's driving goal is to learn the family secrets her parents weren't able to tell her before they died.
 
I never saw The Replacements, but I'm sure that the actual cause of Todd and Riley's parents' deaths was never given, nor was it necessary to. It wasn't important to the series other than to set the events of the premise into motion.
 
Yes, he was. In fact, Lewis' being an orphan was integral to the movies' plot.

Lewis agrees to help Wilbur on the condition that Wilbur use his time machine to help Lewis locate his mother. After Lewis finds out that he in fact is/will be Wilbur's father, Wilbur holds up his end of the bargain and they do go back in time to see Lewis past self being dropped off at the doorstep of the orphanage by his biological mother, but he doesn't approach her and decides to let her go--saying he already has a family: his future family, The Robinsons.
 
Actually he did mentioned it in a couple of episodes. He did tell Baloo early in the 4-part pilot, and then in "Stormy Weather" to an agent who wanted to hire him to showcase his skysurfing stunts. He said in that episode "Baloo and Becky aren't my parents. I'm an orphan."
 
Lilo and Nani from Lilo & Stitch. In fact, Disney had to re-write some of their dialogue in an early scene to emphasize the fact that they were siblings, instead of Nani being Lilo's mother (which confused a test audience).
 
There's that Little Orphan Annie adaption from the 1990s. I think it was called "Tom and Jerry: The Movie". Remember that cute cat and mouse pair than only got 10 minutes of screen time?
