Orphans in animation

All this time and no mention of Bamm-Bamm, from "The Flintstones"? No indication of where he came from (besides just being found on the Rubbles' doorstep)...

Probably, one of the most famous orphans in animation is Bruce Wayne (from 'B:TAS,' to 'B:TB &TB') even though Alfred is his legal guardian.

Kshin ('Defenders of the Earth') supposedly was an orphan when he lost his parents, and was taken and then abandoned by a yakuza-type gang on the streets, where he was the youngest member of a group of pickpockets until he was taken in by Mandrake the magician as his young ward, and later as his adopted son until his long lost Grandfather found him, their reunion was short though, after his Grandfather was killed saving Kshin's life.

Marshall John Bravestarr ('Bravestarr') is also an orphan, he never knew who his parents were, the only connection to his past was an heirloom medallion which was a mystery to him.

Tai Lung ('Kung-Fu Panda') another orphan, was found as a cub by Master Shifu at the door of his dojo. (in a flashback segment of the hit movie).

Ignoring that Bats well predates B:TAS in animation and comics (and that his legal guardian wasn't always Alfred---before the mid-80s revisionism Frank Miller gave him, Bruce's legal guardian in the comics was usually his uncle Philip Wayne, as Alfred didn't work for Wayne Manor until after Bruce had become Batman), I assumed superheroes didn't count for this thread. If so, I suppose you'd have to count Superman (his home planet blown up and all) and Spider-Man (raised by his Aunt May).

Chowder may have parents,
in ye olde days, parents sent their kids away to be apprenticed to a master,
so they have a future career.
Same with all the other kids in the show, they probably just don't live with them.

The only one I can think of is that Po from Kung-Fu Panda.
He was probably an orphan at some point,
as his dad is a bird and Po is a panda.
