I am a beginning rider and I was looking around and found a ZR-7S for sale, all of the reviews that I read look good and it is well priced. Does anyone have any experience with this bike / any advice for a beginner?

I have 43,000 miles on a ZR-7. It's a good general pupose motorcycle. Yes it would make a good first bike. Many people start with a motorcycle that is too small thinking it will be safer.

No way dude, if you twist the throttle a little too much you are going to stack it and seriously hurt yourself.
My first bike was a NSR250 and it isn't learner legal because it is as fast as modern 600's and up.
I would recomend a ninja 250. I just bought a 1998 version of it and it is an excellent bike. It's reliable, cheap to run and is more than capable at exceeding the speed limit.
Good luck

Too hot for a beginner. WAY too hot.

On my first bike (400 cc), I popped the clutch the first day and I almost flipped it over my head.

Start slow and safe. Get a 250cc or 500cc (max). Get a street or cruiser style. I used to ride a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 (my third bike). It is easy to ride, and low maintenance. Plenty of power for later when you are good, but not so much it will flip over.

Get something like that.

Good Luck...
