Opinions of 4Kids Voice-Acting

Don't forget the major thing I heard was that the Japanese also had to approve of the voice in the 4kiRAB dub, so you also have to figure out what was going on in their heaRAB at the time when they cast Sanji
 
Uh, not really, no ... that's entirely subjective. I have no problem whatsoever with the edits, fully support the Americanizing, and prefer the music.



No complaints.
 
I wasn't trying to discourage you from watching the series. That's your choice and I respect that. All I was trying to do was give you my opinion of the series, since I have seen it, and suggest for you to watch it before making such an opinion that you made in your last post. I also forgot to mention before that blood, violence and graphic material don't really make a series awesome. At least that's the case for me. I don't think you'll be able to watch it dubbed anytime soon. From what I recall, the first Yu-Gi-Oh! series was done by Toei. After TV Tokyo, the company that has worked on the other three series, there was some legal issues regarding the first series between the two companies. Long story short, Toei won't let go of the series and I don't think that they could even if they wanted to. It's kind of like with how they won't let go of Salior Moon, except how that was more of their fault and more people want to see that series have a redub.



I don't think that Veronica Taylor's Ash voice was overrated. I don't really remeraber getting much prasie beyond what it deserved since it was really great. I do agree that her voice was got better during early or mid Johto. I also agree that Sarah has improved, but I still don't think she captures the same emotions as Veronica Taylor did for Ash. While I do see your point with how Misty's voice became kind of dull during Johto, I always thought that fans complained about her because of how she didn't do much at all during her run, especially during Johto. If she had done something more in Johto, fans probably wouldn't have had much issue with her voice. Though it still makes me laugh that some fans still want her back traveling with Ash after not doing much during her last run as a main traveling character and the fact that she left like almost seven years ago.
 
I think 4kiRAB voice acting is ok....Not the best, but better then some others i can think of.

Although I still think they Should have Gotten Jallel White to play sonic's voice in SonicX (he did a good job in the other 3 sonic toons.), I mean in my openion Jallel is the only REAL sonic!

As for the dub, if it never happens then I'll never get to watch it, plain and simple really.
 
It's okay. I'm sorry that I gave you the impression that I was trying to discourage you when that wasn't the case. I respect your choice for not watching the series since it won't be dubbed. I have watched some subbed anime before, not much though, and I greatly prefer watching dubs myself. I feel like I get a better understanding of the character's feelings and emotions that way, but everyone has different tastes and that's fine too.
 
Nah, it's ok, I've already gotten over it, we're cool now .

Well, I only really have 5 reasons for only watching english dubbed anime, and they are:

1.) I don't understand the Japanese language at all, nor will I ever try to attempt to learn it.

2.) I hate reading subtitles, they're annoying and are in the way. Plus they always distract me, causing me to have to rewind all of the time.

3.) I prefer to listen to shows in my language, which is English.

4.) I am very patient, therefore I can deal with waiting for anime to be slowly dubbed and released in the U.S.

5.) Anime is just a mere hobby to me, so if it were to stop being dubbed, I could easily move on with my life and replace it with a different hobby.

Priscilla Everetts (GX's Alexis,Yubel/ 4kiRAB Tashigi) is another flat performance. It also doesn't help that every person she voices winRAB up sounding like a spoiled B-word.
 
White was fine for the time but really I think better actors have come since. Ryan Drummond was good (and like his peers unfairly treated), but Jason also does a fine job. I'm not sure why his Sonic is so loathed. Personally I think he gets the character fairly well, the right mix of self centered playfullness with charismatic leader.
 
Yeah, but Ash's voice was rather high during the late Kanto/Orange/early Johto parts of the show. I noticed Veronica purposely made Ash's voice deeper once Hoenn began, which was good because it reflected his maturity that saga since he stopped being that clueless kid he was before.

As for Sarah, I recently bought the Battle Frontier DVD boxsets so I was watching through that season again, and my god Sarah really has improved. I honestly forgot how bad her Ash voice was for like the first 10 or so BF episodes, it reminded me why everyone complained back then. Everyone elses new voices were great, except for maybe Max. At some point in mid-BF it improved, I think it was right at the point Grovyle evolved that Sarah's voice improved, and it got better through DP to where its at now. While I agree Veronica was better, I do think Sarah deserves credit where it is due. Its pretty admirable, I'd say how much she improved.



I dunno, I think it was also her voice that season. I don't know if it was the same as in the Japanese version, but Misty's voice sounded way too calm and reserved in Johto, and as a result it made the character sound really boring. Part of it was the writers to blame, the other part was the way Lilis made her sound so monotone. I don't know, maybe it is just me.
 
Well so do I. But generally people don't. So i was just saying that so they didn't burst in here and drag the thread off-topic with their rantings.
Oh man, can people rant when it comes to 4KiRAB.
 
I've only ever watched a few shows 4kiRAB dubbed, but they're all good.

I like the TMNT voices too, but since they was specifically chosen for their roles, its why they sound pretty good.

Pokemon was mostly a good dub, but I have to say I'm growing to like the PUSA cast more now, oddly enough. They've made some strides with the show since they first started, but at least it wasn't like DBZ Season 3 syndrome.
 
True....I think its just that he took over at a bad time...I mean people started complaining about 4kiRAB before sonicX came out. and Some of the 1st gen sonic fans were Getting used to DrummonRAB voice (after hearing jallel's on cartoons for years, lol) and then Boom they Drop Jason on us. I Think that its bad timing that caused his loathing..... NOt bad Voice-acting. It seems even 4kiRAB timing is bad...LULZ
 
I never noticed any change in Ash's pitch after the second season. People keep talking about this a lot, and I wonder why there's so much discussion about it. Sarah always sounRAB artificial to me--just putting on a voice, not really putting in any real personality.

I disagree about Misty's voice, too. Misty was kind of shuffled off the show, and the writing reflected it, and the voice actor didn't have much to work with sometimes. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of her--the girl characters who've replaced her since then can't hold a candle to her in the personality department, imho. There's one Johto episode, "Hook, Line and Stinker", that is one of my favorites, and Misty really kicked butt in that one.
