Open Table

As much a I travel, I'm surprised I've never used this service before.
I'd read it mentioned on Chowhound, but just never investigated it.
Wow.. nice! I just scored a table at Topolobampo in Chicago on May 5th.
I would actually prefer to be next door at Fronterra Grill, but they
don't take reservations there. I'm in Texas again next week so will see
what it has to offer there.

Does anyone else use Open Table?

A word up to the northern Cal folks who might be interested in the
French Laundry. They sometimes have seats through Open Table. I was
persuing for places for Wednesday this past week, and was looking at
Wine Country restaurants. The French Laundry popped up on their
list, and they had a table for 4!! At a decent time, no less!

I would have jumped on that, if I had the money, but as I was watching
my pennies, I couldn't. But for anyone that is interested, keep tabs
on them on Open Table. ;)

And, I know that OT doesn't book a full restaurant, some tables are
always reserved by the restaurant outside the system. However, if you
look at OT availability and it's not there, it's a pretty good
indication that they will be having a busy night. Often I prefer to
be at a restaurant when it's not packed to the gills.

I just checked it. Bad search engine. Apparently some spot in
Charlotteville pays to be listed as 25 miles from my zip code as well as a
bunch of DC/Williamsberg places and a Richmond spot. I'm in the Norfolk
area. None are 25 miles from me, one is about 400!!!

Sorry, useless here if they do that.
