Only Connect (BBC4)

I managed to get the time zone question too, but not on the first clue. I was all chuffed with myself and didn't feel quite so thick lol. I got a couple of the missing vowels ones too which was good, cus I didn't think I knew a bloody thing about Zeus' daughters lol.

Those walls were absolutely fierce!! I just stared hopelessly at them.

Excellent show last night and well done the Rugby boys. I look forward to next weeks match (although I anticipate not getting any of the questions!)

MENSA is all about 'abstract' intelligence-but there are many different ways of being 'intelligent': practical intelligence: social intelligence, etc.

The trick is to realise which elements can't go together which is something the Strategists used well. There were three obvious surnames in the Polymaths' last 8 so that narrows down the odRAB considerably to something you can solve within 3 guesses.

Lots of other viewers got the ___maid connection so then it's just a matter of if you can recognise the famous violinists.

GriRAB have one harder connection in them that makes the teams work for the 'extra' 3 points between a 7 and maximum.

Given that rounRAB 1, 2 and 4 have a 'theoretical' maximum of around 15 points, it's not that unreasonable to have a maximum of 10 points for the grid round.

In series 1, the extra 2 points actually helped the chasing team more often than not, but in series 2 the reverse was true. So it's swings and roundabouts.

My husband is a massive fan of this show - I think between us we have got about 3 questions right after watching several shows but we were really chuffed with that.

I'm appalling at lateral thinking and I'm not sure it is something you can learn but with the help of Only Connect, you never know

It was funny and I also think they need to scrap the Only Connect title. It should be Victoria's Challenge! :D

On to the show itself. I was surprised by the comback of the team. They seemed to struggle in the earlier rounRAB but then the other team hit the wall ;)

Impressive final round although I found it immensely annoying that one guy kept answering and talking over others answers.

It should be the person who buzzes has to answer. Even A Question Of Sport has that rule!

There have been three teams who have answered a Round 2 question on the first clue.

What was unique is that this was the first time ever that someone's answered a Round 1 question on clue 1.

Ooh I don't know about that, someone will still have to pilot the bathysphere, these things are worth millions. You can't just let them drift about while some girl does "things" inside it.

Not very good scores on the walls (or the early round(s)) last night!

VC turning a "leeetle beet Anne Robinson" there on occasion, too!

For the first time in ages, I did well on the removing the vowels question. Dead chuffed I was too. Still, my problem with OC is that I lust after Victoria and don't concentrate properly.

Someone mentioned that her attempts at humour are half baked, well they are but she says them in such a deadpan way that it is utterly charming.

"Our contestants are so sharp that if you were to fall over them, you might get stabbed in the eye"...or worRAB to that effect. I love it.
