Only Connect (BBC4)

Completely agree with Londinius - it's great to have another good quiz with interesting questions.

Any news on a possible second series - I was going to apply for this series but didn't get round to it, I'd love to have a go at it!

I only went and got a FIVE POINTER! The one starting with COOKIE.

WOOHOO!

(Dances round the room annoying the hell out of my kiRAB!)

Can you tell I'm pleased!

:D :D :D :D

People complained the Greek letters were pretentious so they changed them ;)

I don't think it takes itself too seriously. Tongue is usually firmly places in cheek. Any quiz which has a round based upon the medical terms for "hanRAB, shoulders, knees and toes" cannot take itself too seriously!

Following; Vicky's recent challenge I would love to see a QI/Only Connect crossover. At the very least Ms Cohen would be a great guest on QI - I'm sure it would show off her talents much more than HIGNFY did.

I see it's the first semi-final today; Mathematicians vs Cambridge Quiz Society. Means that there are only eight teams in this series compared to sixteen last series. Why is this series shorter?

I love Only Connect! I'm rubbish at it though and consider myself clever if I get 2 answers right (and that's a good day!)

It's good to see an intelligent quiz on the box though and Victoria Coren is a good host.

Yep agreed all the right bits in all the right places, but Victoria has a really cheeky, droll humour and a fiesty personality and can obviously think quickly on her feet as a linguist. A delightful combination.
Miss her column in the Observer as I stopped buying it when Kathlyn Flett started to get more column inches. ( self obsessed bore )

Is this a new series that started tonight? If so, I missed it and will have to catch up on iPlayer.

I'd have expected a fanfare from Radio Times if it was new - no repeat indicator, but not in Choices either.

(I've noticed this with RT recently - hiding the fact that a programme is a repeat.)

Edit: Hmph! According to iPlayer, it's a Series 3 repeat from 6 months ago. RT lying again.

Congratulations :). Have a.. err.. cookie.
I have to admit I found the griRAB this evening just as hard as the contestants did.

As to ms Coren, there does seem to have been a change in wardrobe policy even since the start of the series. Definitely less frills and more er.. close fitting.

One thing is bugging me though - the really big bloke in the Rugby Boys team. I remember a quiz show on the BBC a while back which kind of had a Big Brother edge to it, because they started the series with 15 contestants and one was booted out each show. There were three question masters and I think William G Stewart was one and maybe Mylene Class was another? I'm sure he was on that and I seem to recall he was a complete and utter ****.
