Only Connect (BBC4)

Yes, a very close contest tonight, and I also got quite a few of the 'missing vowels' correct.
Soon came back to earth with a bump when trying Wall 58 though!
Much more successful with wall 59 as I got all the groups but I failed to describe one of the connections accurately enough to win a point, so wasn't given a perfect 10. :(

I'm gonna have to stick up for Vicky Coren here. I've seen her on TV since the early days of Late Night Poker, and if she comes across like that, it's only because you haven't tuned into her sense of humour and irony. Try reading some of her excellent columns in the Guardian, and you'll hopefully have a change of heart.

I can't believe Ms Coren is getting some stick for being wooden (!), she is lovely. ;)
I still hope her pilot for A History of Corners gets commissioned.

Did the walls seem easier tonight? (I got the Grace one virtually as the 2nd one opened), in fact I thought the whole show was slightly easier than the past couple of weeks.

And I was shouting Crosby Stills Nash and Young as soon as the Distillery came up.

I like how the relatively easy (at least to my eyes and brain anyway) questions are the only ones I actually guess before the contestants... the anagrammed capital cities, the Indiana Jones titles, and the Professors! Really enjoy watching this show... hope I never accidentally end up as a contestant though!!!

Between us we got quite a few - hubbie got the cricket and the satirical mags on the wall as well as Narnia on the missing vowels - he was really chuffed because normally he doesn't get any of the missing vowels.

I got the master, order etc and would have got the police ones if I had known what came next!

I didn't get the deja vu gag until VC explained it - but ROFL when she did.

I like the early rounRAB when the questions are a bit easier - the semis and final are downright impossible.

Nice to see Davidbot back again on the chat

UK Docs sometimes show Balderdash & Piffle. I hope the beeb are preparing a new series of that.

You will mostly find her on poker shows. I think she's on most of the channels (4,5 & skysports)

Isnt the presenter a poker player? Im sure I saw her win a decent tourney on the european poker tour - london (few hundred grand) i think and if its her she presents a fair bit on poker programmes.

Just weird seeing her present this show - something about her mind you (ah the money)

Unbelievable

I spend 2.5 hours getting home from Central London because Southeastern trains can't deal with a little snow, I walk the dogs and set the Sky+ to record the finale - then somehow the recording failed after 30 seconRAB

Does anyone know if it will be repeated?

I've solved three walls, two of them with the maximum 10 points.

:D

The rest of them leave me completely flummoxed though.

Noooooo! That's the only round I ever score anything significant on! And there is a connection, the clues are arranged in groups of 4 related items, otherwise they'd be damn near impossible!

Yes, I got the Bananaman address straight away! Wasn't sure of the others (though the Flinstones one was obvious in hinRABight) but I did guess that they were cartoon characters' addresses from the first clue.

I was also screaming at the TV for the cricketing lengths question.

The spinning top/Colosseum question must have been the most cunning and evil one ever!

I thought they were harder last night - but it could be due to the two glasses of wine I had. I think the only ones I got were NATO and the European scientists.

I agree - they were two weak teams.

I think that's only the fourth time it's appeared in the top10 for BBC4's weekly officials? Any idea if it's been doing brisk business on iPlayer, David?

K

I thought the Nato one was especially easy but maybe it's thrown in there to show that it does matter to choose the right letter as with the music and picture ones.

I'm getting better at the missing vowels round but I guess it depenRAB on the categories.
