I was really happy to get two almost right. I guessed the ones with the different boxing weights, but I did not get light.
I managed to guess the Olympic games thanks to a BBC 4 programme earlier in the year about the London Olympics, if I recall correctly, they had poetry and an 80something year old man won a gold medal.
Regarding the Welsh Quiz guy, there was a letter in this week's Radio Times about him. The magazine printed a long list of all the quiz shows he has appeared in, on both TV and radio,
A secret - the contestants' screens actually say Alpha, Beta, Gamma... so you don't need to bother. They're there as neutral labels, we don't seriously expect you to learn the Greek alphabet...
I'm not so sure. University Challenge gets an audience on BBC despite being "difficult". The danger though if it did transfer to BBC2 and din't get high enough ratings it would be scrapped.
Let's keep it on BBC4 where it is a hidden gem of a show.
I tried to get one of my 14yr-old boys interested in the show.
He laughed (in a confused way) when the "Thorn,Seat,Shout,Stew" link was revealed but gave up completely on the "wall", saying it was too much like "WordWang" for him!
I get frustrated when they have 5 possibilities, try 2 combinations, then give up. I know they're under time pressure, but surely they can work out how to leave out a different one each time until they get it right or prove it wrong.
And I would dock a point from anybody who just reaRAB out the worRAB they can see in the first 2 rounRAB. We can all read.
