Only Connect (BBC4)

My mum had that sneaky idea after she'd already seen the Monday episode of the Thursday repeat that we were watching.

Unfortunately she forgot all the answers and it was as new to her as it was to me! :p

The lack of repeats was discussed earlier in the thread. My conspiracy theory was that they were trying to get more ratings by forcing people to watch the Monday night broadcast.

It seems strange that there is no repeat considering the amounts of repeats on BBC4.

Just watched this week's ep on iPlayer, and noticed that the captain of the bookkeepers looked/sounded familiar. Then it dawned on me, he was the 'contestant' on Alex Zane's fake quiz on Balls of Steel, the Anne Frank expert who got very ratty when told she died in 1946. :D

Only Connect is back, back, back for a fourth series. Provisional recording dates: late July/early August. For application details, email [email protected] and they'll be in touch in due course. You need a team of three + one reserve.

I do use a PVR. It only has one tuner, but these days that's generally not a problem. In the case of OC, this series is unique in only having ONE screening per episode.

I never do that brilliantly - think I'm clever if I answer 3 questions :) - but I knew the answer to the first question when they said 'British 'Order of Merit' members", and I guessed the answer to the first question of the other team when they got as far as the second clue of 'hammer, nail, wrapping', so I don't know why the teams had problems.

I'd say with the direction his thread has taken over the last page or so there are a few posters willing to swap places with Frank Skinner and Reg Hunter for a few days there. ;)

oo oo oo I got the little piggies one, my husband got the [blank] teeth on the wall and I got the palaces. I also rocked the missing vowels but the rest of it we were pretty poor (as usual).

Trying to be kind I got the impression that the teams were "amateurs" whereas many of the competitors we have seen previously are veterans of lots of quiz shows - I suppose what I am trying to say is they did about as well as we would if we entered :).

I was also strangely excited that one of the Brasenose graduates was from Orpington (my town) - go figure!

Wow, did anyone notice that after University Challenge last night the announcer said Only Connect was about to start on BBC4? Finally some attempt to inform viewers about this little gem.

Didn't think much of the Awarding of the trophy. Even UC gives the team a minute in the limelight.

And the joke/script writer for that final neeRAB sacking. There could have been a studio audience there but you wouldn't notice after those jokes as they would have left any audience in silence.

I perceived that in the exact opposite way. I thought he was the one pressing the buzzer (it certainly looked like it) but the others kept answering as well! Very bizarre indeed!
