One Piece FULL Speed Ahead In stores NOW!

Why not? They started out using Zoro, and then eventually changed it to Zolo to match what 4KiRAB was doing. Now that 4KiRAB is out of the picture, they should just concern themselves with putting out an accurate product to please the hardcore fans.

I dunno, I don't think I could bring myself to rebuy 28 volumes just to get Zoro. Maybe if they were to spruce up other weird terms and such (Ponegliff = Poneglyph, Roguetown = Loguetown, the terrible pirate lingo in the Kuro arc, Kami = God, etc.) then I might be interested if it was done in a cheaper, high-quality omnibus format with all the color pages in tact via Viz Big.

Again, your Dragon Ball example is not valid. That was about ten years ago and since then, they've flopped back to putting out censored volumes. Fans (like myself) have to hit up the used book stores or eBay to find the few uncut printings out there. Some volumes never got uncut releases at all, and that is speaking only in terms of the art. The later volumes switch to psuedo-cursing and wonky 'translations'...why the hell did they have to change 'Vegetto' to 'Vegerot? Steve Simmons uses it on the FUNimation DVRAB, Bandai has used it. It makes the most since. Then there is their use of 'djinn' instead of 'Majin'. Viz consistently proves they like to incite controversy with fans.

But has anyone actually put together a petition with a few thousand signatures since then? No, I rarely ever hear about fans sending in letters to complain, only on message boarRAB that VIZ probably doesn't read. In fact, you could say one of the reasons were even getting this speed-up is because of fans sending in letters and e-mails, we know it's happened because VIZ published at least one of those letters in their magazine.

And saying VIZ likes to incite controversy? Now that's just being rude, you're not even criticizing anymore.

Than Viz neeRAB to work on their memory, because if they felt they could get away with the same shenanigans a few years later without anybody caring, than they were wrong.

I'm pointing out what seems to be the case. It's so easy to get even the little things right, it boggles the mind when they get them wrong. Does their editorial department not stop to think that their out-of-left-field decisions with Dragon Ball ('Pocus', 'Djinn', 'Vegerot', etc. etc.) might befuddle their ingrained fans, or even drive them away from the product?

I'm not calling anybody's momma ugly, I'm asking for a little common sense where it sort of demanRAB it.

But like I've been trying to point out, they are getting away with it. Their manga is still selling well, edits or not, because most people don't care. As long as people continue to buy manga more and more and no one is telling VIZ that they're doing something wrong, then there's no point in going completely unedited now.

And you're not pointing out what seems to be case, none of us really know why VIZ made the "Dragonball" translation the way they did, you're just making a baseless claim based on barely any speculation.

Woah now... just because the watered down and poorly translated version is accepted we shouldn't expect better? That's rediculous.

I don't know for sure if there has been or hasn't been a petition or some other meaningless attempt to get Viz to give various manga a better release but I'd imagine there has been something along the lines tried over the years and Viz problems gets a lot of letters asking to fix these things.

But you know why they keep selling? Because the public doesn't really know the difference unless it's spelled out for them. Shonen Jump's translations are incredibly inconsisted. Rurouni Kenshin from what I've seen is great but Dragonball, Naruto and One Piece really leave plenty to be desired and I'm sure the VERY vocal fans of those 3 series along with others have let Viz know they don't like those changes.

You're acting like no one has done anything to resolve this and while I can't confirm that someone has you can't very well confirm than no one has bothered either.

Hey I never said we shouldn't expect better, I don't like a lot of the choices VIZ makes either.

And you're right. I think I exaggerated my argument about fans not being upfront enough with VIZ.

There are a few panels that use both "Kami" and "God". Randomly forgetting to change it is not an excuse. It's inconsistent and pointless.

EXACTLY.

Indeed, indeed. Now, I've bitten the bullet and bought the fifth Viz Big (which is pretty much where the whacky adaptation got whackier) and I continue to own the Sh

Couldn't find any new volumes at my local bookstores. Sucks, guess I'll order them off the web.

Edit: I found all 5 books at Barnes and Noble. Can't wait to read them again.

Still no volume 24 at Borders...

I'm tempted to try and find it the next time I'm in back and put them on the shelves myself. I highly doubt that they really sent out so few copies of the first speed-up volume to the store, while shipping plenty of the rest.

Funny, my B&N had their copies in. I paged through Volume #25, too.

'Monkey Mountain Alliance'? Saruyama is far less a mouthful to say, not to mention is a pronoun...and doesn't need to be translated.

Update concerning my local Borders: Alright, I looked in the back today like I said I would. By the look of things, they received eight copies of each Skypeia volume. However, some genius decided to ignore all eight copies of volume 24 and put the other four volumes out instead.

This also caused me to notice that this Borders hasn't sold one copy of any speed-up volume (except maybe a copy of volume 25). I place the blame entirely on the lack of volume 24, so I took it to myself to put the volume out. Hopefully things will change around here now.

Just doing my part for the One Piece cause.
