...ethnicities than others? -i realize the socio-economic issues, political situations, racism in the work place, the wealth gap v. whites v ethnics etc.

-all im gonna say is...i live in a blue collar area of a city and I see a LOOOOT of chinese people in poverty!! and then 90% of the homicides in my city occur between black males..

-i am not racist at ALL! ......so all im asking is, why this is? in your opinion? do you think aaaallll the accountability is on the white man who traditionally is racist, OR do you think there may perhaps be a certain culture of gangs and culture in the urban centres that overtakes a young mans (or rarely a womans) ideology when perhaps ...unemployment, or single-mom families (due to white racism sure) occurs and kids turn to their friends for guidance,....and rap/gun culture is there for them...

...and if u disagree with this relationship btw rap and gun culture.....TELL ME, if no ones influenced by the media (rap/hip hop) why all of a sudden did gun culutre begin so strong now? why not in the 50's....or even 70's?

-its not horrible to accept a fault of a culture by the way!!!!!
and cultural faults are a lot better than racism because u can CHANGE culture, NOT race...
-im white and ive been stuffed guilt with my entire life even though i have never fulfilled racism myself. but i accept my ANCESTORS were at fault for A LOT OF things...

I see what youre talking about. Theres a definite difference between believing that all people in a group are at fault and noticing that the culture of a certain group of people can add to the bad images of that group. Its the same as women in a lot of cultures around the world being treated like s**t just because of their cultures.
I remember when I was a little kid, maybe about 8 years old I was standing on a line in an arcade trying to buy tickets and these two black girls stood in the line and appeared to be cutting my place. I stopped them, completely unprejudiced and said, "excuse my I was here in front of you" and the girl, around 16 says "i know you chinese b**ch!"
Now, Im not chinese, and Im not even full asian. I'm half korean and half white. Yet, I was a majorly innocent kid and from that point on I didnt have the best opinion of black people. I guess you could say I was a racist kid. Yet, having grown up and grown out of my own prejudices, I have nothing against black people. I dont think being black means you will act a certain way- my black math tutor is a great person and has helped me through my worst subject for years, and he certainly listens to rap and hiphop despite the bad messages in it.
Yet, the way a person grows up has a lot to do with the way people become. Those who grow up spiteful, hating whites for what they did centuries before, or for putting them in the position of poverty they might be in are only egged on by the love of violence, guns, and naked women in the music they hear.
It takes a good individual to break apart from things they grew up on.
I love meeting black people who dont live the stereotype because it is true, throughout history, African Americans HAVE suffered, but these people fought through it.

Blacks have always had gun culture. First, almost all blacks have their cultural roots in the South and living in Georgia let me tell you, the only people here who don't have guns are the people who moved here from up north. The white folks that are from here have them. The black folks have them.

Most blacks used to live in the country and given that they were denied employment so often that old shotgun or rifle that they owned was the only way they'd have to put food on the table. That gun meant dinner. There is a strong tradition of hunting in the African-American community that most people don't know about.

Then there is the fact that in the old days the law didn't protect us and if someone hung one of us on a tree they'd get elected to office. Having that gun in the home was a way of deterring white folks because while they had the law on their side the last thing they wanted to do was get into a gun fight with us because they knew that we'd fight to the death.

There is the also the fact that most blacks still don't trust the government or police (I sure as hell don't and I live in a black run town) and prefer to protect themselves on their own rather than trust the police (and this isn't just blacks. Most native born white Georgians have the same attitude, specially the necks)

It has not a thing to do with rap and everything to do with history and simply put, it will never end because the black community has gone through too much to ever entrust our own safety to something other than ourselves
