*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Obviously. I mean for me at least, again to reiterate. I wasn't that impressed but the everything the jack of all trades master of none strategy that's been the same since 2006.

It was GREAT to play with then though. Very exciting tech those days. Impressive.

BTW, the OmniaHD at least improves in those areas that I don't care about but others do. In fact it takes a warm **** on any Nokia. So there's the HIGH END option for that feature set if you didn't already know.

Simply restore your iphone and whala, warranty!

Even with 3g turned off, the iphone 3GS is still ridiculously fast rendering web content.

I know there's 3 ghettos little cellphone booths in Eaton Center downtown, lol, they seem to always have the latest, but not sure if I would trust them... Know anything about that?

All well said. I'm in the same boat with my N810. I used it all the time but web browsing has become such a pain. I've actually had some renewed interested since installing Tear and the browsing performance is very nice but realistically we need to see OMAP3 for the processor to be able to keep up with some of the sites we like to browse.

When I initially saw the N97 my thought was it was a convergence of convergence devices; brings all the good from my N810, E71 and N95 into a single package. And my experience with this processor with the E71 is really what keeps me interested and hoping that Nokia can get the performance necessary from the device. If not, then I wait for something better. The E71 serves it's purpose as I'm a messaging centric user (corp/personal email, calendar) but I like the vid/camera capability of the N95 and the large screen and high res from my N810.

I'm personally not interested in the gaming ability but I do expect decent vid playback without having to ensure that the vid is encoded to some stringent settings to get it to work. Time will see and I'm not in a hurry to place my order. There are enough that are to give me my user feedback to tell me whether to buy or not. And WOM needs to start sending these out so bloggers can get some time with them.

Oh, I don't mind S60v5 like SR does. I always defended the little UI quirks since before we had a chance to use it and I still stand by them. It's just S60 with a touch layer, of course you have to double-tap! :p

If you really want to see the hardware difference in action, load up the preinstalled version of Global Race on your 5800XM. If you don't notice the lag in that by itself, find a buddy with an N95 or E90 and load up the same game and give that a shot. You'll be pissed by the difference!

Build Quality is a huge factor for me, so if the N97 has a better quality build over the 5800, then the $512 shipped price i paid is almost acceptable to me. Let's face it, with the 5800 at around 250-300 with rebates this phone is really worth 350-400. Plus i already have a buddy that wants to buy the free headset off me. :2thumbs:

If you find a way to use the keyboard comfortably and find it better than the keyboards I've mentioned using, then I'd love to hear how (including dimensions of the size of your fingers). I'm not interested in justifying anything. All of the main points I have about the N97 are still correct and I never tried to pass off any subjective points as fact.

-The camera is nice, but 2 years old.
-The lack of a next-gen processor doesn't cripple the device (though the RAM might).
-You need to try the keyboard before you commit to keeping it.

That's it and that's all, it's just fo' decoration.
