*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

so...
R=Computing Device
M=EGSM 900/1800 (may include WCDMA)
still so what's the difference other than a digit! lol, firmware revision? and why is this on a mac website with an apple logo? This is madness! Blasphemy!!

You never enter text directly into the entry box with S60v5. You have to click on the box you want to type in, which will then bring up the text-entry screen (from here you can pick which entry system you'd want to use; in this case, T9 alphanumeric keypad). There is a small preview box at the top of the screen showing what you want to type, a check mark button at the top, options button at the top, left/right arrow keys, backspace, and the standard number keys.

After you're done typing whatever it is you wanted to type, you have to hit the check mark so that your text gets pasted into the text entry box you were trying to type into in the first place. From there, you can hit the send button.

Sure, so do I. I don't believe in leaving all my eggs in one basket so to speak.

Which is why I also shun OVI.

With Exchange I can switch phones to any brand or platform and stay right up.

I also have a wide choice of providers.

However, google maps is easily the best mapping program on S60. It can get you anywhere and get you the numbers to get food/drinks/whatever to you. Anywhere you are, in anyone's home, just open and type what you need and within a minute you are on your way or your food is on its way. Can't really beat that.

Yes but MS Exchange is equivalent to BES (almost) and BES is the much more expensive alternative.

Exchange does, infact work out to be much cheaper in implementation as well compared to BES.

I guess I think the price is justifiable.

EDIT: Just read you've been in the business, so you'd already know about it.

The button to bring up the dial pad is always right there on the homescreen. And the numbers on the QWERTY keyboard are there (function keys on the top row of keys)

I'll wait to you guinea pi--I mean, early adopters to grab them up then decide on whether or not I want to take the plunge. My interest has been resurrected in the N97 seemingly overnight.

On an unrelated note, your N85 video made me want to get an N85 just for the speed of the camera. The picture was processed nearly before the camera shutter sound stopped playing! :goodness: My N95 couldn't do that even after a hard reset. :reallysad

Since owning the E90, I have always preferred Google Maps over the Nokia app. It just appears to be more responsive and much quicker to use on the road. I can remember that getting a signal lock for GPS on Nokia Maps always seemed to be at least a minute while Google Maps has no trouble at all.

Another aspect of Google Maps that impresses me is just how well it has been incorporated into the different OS versions I have used via multiple devices.

I just got the order confirmation email as well. Odd. I never believed the June 2nd date, I would love for them to prove me wrong.

If they are just updating the DB and nothing much is going on NokiaUSA/Brightpoint would seem to a cranial rectal inversion going on.

Thats the feeling/conclusion I came to yesterday..except mine is the N95-doing quite well. But fortunately, I can afford to give up $500 I decideded to keep the order with the glitch pricing and give the N97 a try for 30 days..my N95 will remain close by
