*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Considering we haven't even seen the final OS for the idou how are we supposed to know what the extent of its capabilities are?

And gorgonesh is right, knowing Nokia there's going to be a phone better than the N97 out by the end of the year and probably more from other manufacturers too. Nothing has been announced in terms of the winter phone drops.

Here are a few pics for the curious or voyeurs like me lol. A few of you will probably like the last one, its of the E71x and the N97 opened.

Look at the yellow Beetle in the 3rd picture. The part with sun light on it is white. One of the reviews out there did a more detailed look at camera performance. Besides some post processing changes the sensor is almost identical to what is on the N95.

Yeah, we get it. There was a glitch and some people got it for a great price. Theres lots of us who didnt. Now STFU about it. Constantly mentioning "what a great price" you got it for does nothing for the thread. We are all waiting for it regardless what we paid.

I have owned two E90 Communicators before. While the tactile feedback of the buttons were just fine, my main issues were bulk and the width of the qwerty keypad. I hope that the N97 will solve these since it is not as wide and may offer a more comfortable typing position.

My only concern is having to adapt to sliding open that qwerty after being so used to the quick access variant of the E71.

"If this cellphone release date stuff keeps up, we'll be seeing a cellphone releasing every day in June. The latest we can add to the list is the Nokia N97.

It's the first Nokia N-series to sport a touchscreen, and you pre-ordered earlier this month, it will arrive around June 15 with the the S60 5th Edition OS on board.

European support pages for the phone are already up and running, in case you dig that sort of thing"

:clapping: hopefully this happens...maybe Nokia will be smart and get N97's into people's hands before the Pre comes out? Maybe? Bueller?

Technically, they did, but in reality, they only made two: Two NAM versions (-3, -4) and two for the rest of the world (-1, -2).

That said, they probably should've just made worldwide versions of both the classic and 8GB. :buddies:

I'm trialing Roadsync now and other than subfolder support there's little that it brings to the table compared to Mail for Exchange to warrant the $50 price. It looks like they are supporting S60v5 now? The N97 is listed as an option for purchase. And Roadsync doesn't provide the shortcut functionality that the new NM client provides. The messages are easier to read with RS due to their formating compared to MfE v2.9 but this is addressed in the new NM client. Doubt I'm paying for this once the trial is complete. Is there something else I'm missing from your experience?

If true, very not bad. I'm still a firm believer that some N-phones have almost gotten to the point of replacing mp3 players: plenty of memory, excellent sound quality, mobbler, internet radio, etc.

They know the fanboys will blindly buy because it says "Nokia" on the front and has a higher catalog number than the N95.

I wouldn't call myself a "hater" either, but the ones who think in such black and white terms in this thread probably put me on that side of the fence.

As a consumer, you have the right to buy whatever you want. Nobody's forcing you to buy anything, so if the N97 is the smartest kid on the short bus, you still don't have to buy it. Save your money, use an older phone that excels at your needs, and save your money for a phone that's truly worthy of your hundreds of dollars. I made a lot of posts inappropriately comparing the i8910 to the N97 in here, but I still don't care what you buy. Now that we're starting to see what these devices really are, I'm much more interested in a cheap, matured N95 than an expensive, problematic 2009 device that doesn't deliver what's claimed.

Edit: and that goes for both devices. The QWERTY and HD recording were the big highlights of these two devices and they're both unraveling themselves to be major disappointments.

i find it funny that all these years everyone complained about Nseries poor build quality. nokia finally addresses this with a solid n97, and they screw it up with other faults.

anyway garmin can be transferred to another memory card of your chosing, you just have to use unconventional means. search google and you'll find it.

The address is listed with amex as a valid shipping address, I've used it dozens of time. No calls to my cell phone today, or if I was out of range they didn't leave voice mail.

How long have you been using S60 phones? Just curious...

New features does not mean a new OS. And Nokia's promised new features before and then backed out. So, friggin yeah!

Oh, and FYI... they've been in the NAM market for a while now... so I'm not sure what you mean by they've "officially entered the NAM market".

Also, Samsung and SE have both updated in the past, while Nokia has not. Not sure how this is a new game now, but I'm sure you'll try to enlighten me somehow. My anticipation for that is, as you can tell, boundless.

Hey Guys i just called http://www.popularelect.com and they said that they have them in stock. I asked what color they had and the guy said black. Now im not sure if the guy is telling the truth or not, but he said if i ordered today it would ship tomorrow. Oh and btw he said the cost was $775. 773-338-5460 I think i will just stick with my preorder from dell.
