*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Hey that's not fair. On that thread he's comparing N97 speed without 3g to omnia hd with 3g!
and oh yeah.... I'm 38
BUT I take lots of vitamins & hormones to stay young. Proven life extenders like super ubiquinol and resveratrol. You can check those out at lef.org

New tablet?! Oh, don't get me started! I loved my N810 in the day, but now? It's an absolute PAIN to use for normal web browsing (plus my torrents running all day long eating bandwidth). It's enough to make me BEG for a decent S60 phone again.

It's hard to compare the E71 to anything else. It is still arguably the fastest S60 to date. Having used almost everything that they've put out in the past couple years, I can tell you first hand that phones like the N85 and N96 are just not as fast as the N95 (and not nearly as fast as the E71). Even my girlfriend just went from a red N95 to an N85 and with her very little usage, she even commented on the slow down between the two.

Bringing my passions back to reality for a minute, I'm hopeful for the N97's processor, but I have experiences pulling it in different directions. Some of Nokia's fastest phones including the E71 and the E55 are powered by the same processor. BUT! The 5800XM is also powered by the same processor as well, and it was certainly sluggish in areas it shouldn't have been. I'm hoping the increase in clock speed is enough to fix that and keep the experience consistent.

But as for gaming? I'm not even going to say it. I've given up on S60 gaming already, and I don't think anyone else here is planning on buying an N97 for its gaming features anyway. I just hope nothing else is noticeably affected by the lack of gaming-esque hardware.

I think he just didn't put the battery cover on correctly?

Edit: if we all said the same thing in that short of time, this thread is getting WAY too much traffic.

Seriously yes. I go to ESPN.com, it redirects me to the Mobile Site. That's the only site that I actually check on my phone. Anything else can wait til I get home. The way I see it, I sit in front of a computer all day, when I'm not home and I'm out, I want to do things that you don't need a computer for.

in the review of the samsung they have already stated that the screen is no good inside and the texting is not good i saw it on engaget the other day.

Indeed. Different strokes for different folks. Hopefully the hinge that tilts the screen isn't as flimsy as the one on the TyTN II. Dunno why they didn't just design it like the X1

Yeah i know, iam kind of wishing i hadnt ordered with them and went with amazon instead. Oh well maybe the acer m900 will come in soon. Hell it got pushed back too

The European N97 is a Quad-Band GSM and Triband 3G at 900/1900/2100.
The NAM N97 is Quad-Band GSM and Triband 3G at 850/1900/2100.

In the other hand the European 5800 is Quad-Band GSM and Dual Band 3G at 900/2100
and the NAM 5800 is Quad-Band GSM and Dual Band 3G at 850/1900.

Some vid I saw of it looked almost like the screen was giving way under the finger press, like it had some play in it. My old MDA was that way. Could this be?

So they're starting to actually come out. I can't wait to hear everybody's impressions. I'll hafta "unsubscribe" this thread tho or my hd's inbox will surely overflow. :D Awesome guys! I shall live vicariously thru you!! :buddies:
