*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

True. I'll have to agree with Truth and Jonty though, jailbreaking an iPhone is almost as easy as updating a Nokia through NSU. Then again, I think flashing a Nokia with Phoenix is pretty easy too, so maybe i'm wrong.

the way the economic situation is right now I wonder how many of these phones they could sell at $ 700 .00 a pop ? makes me think they might delay the release of this phone until Sept or Oct .

Please don't taint your impression of the N-series. Get something decent like the N86.

N95 was the best phone in the world, this one is not worthy of even being called a successor. Just like the N96 was not worthy.

The problem is all manufactures do it, i mean true apple put in more ram and better processor kudos to them, but now there screen resolution is out dated, there camera is outdated and there design is now outdated (at least to me) under the hood is refined but its still the same old look and its getting boring now. :buddies:

P.S. That doesnt mean that im not pissed at the 128 ram in the n97 i mean to utilize the widget screen the way the show us we need the extra ram, im not to concerned about the processor but the ram yes.

Anybody know if there's any guide out there to over-clock processors on symbian/S60 phones?

Technically the N97 can be clocked to a higher speed; it would be interesting to see what happens.

That's what makes this so exciting. The video I saw had the speed and responsiveness of e-series and the home screen is obviously as customizable as the E-series. In the E71 and E66 Nokia have proven that they can make a usable phone and now they bringing that to the N-series. This thing is almost like the new E90, I guess to me it will be. I hope it isn't cheap and plasticky in real life.

OMFG, Chrono Trigger on the N97?!?!?!? D@mn, NOW that I want this phone more than EVER!!! Ahh, that was the BEST RPG game ever! (If you don't count FF-VII of course ;) )

It's a great Twitter App :)

This sounds very promising :yummy:

Exactly! Most people tend to ignore all the potential twitter has. It's a great all-in-one news/gadgets/people/friends/search feed.

Gravity is probably the best s60v5 app out there :)

@nMIK3

Really when you say

"Nokia advantage:
Ovi Store (This is huge)"

I don't suppose you'd care to enlighten us that just don't see how or why this is so, which by the way seems to be Nokia itself now. As surely if it was as you put it such a "huge " advantage just why are they stopping spending any more money on it then?

Why are they now doing what IMO they should of done from the start and working on giving the best integration for the best and most popular services that their users already use or want to use. Instead of spending all that money on rival services to try and lock you into only use a Nokia phone. Which myself and many others all pointed out at the time was not a great idea in fact far from it is true.

I really just can't understand how or why anyone would want to limit their choice to only one manufactuer irrespective of what they produce it just seems self defeating to me. Unless of course you work for them or own so many shares that how they perform effects you financially.

Loyalty is something that they need to earn and keep earning we pay them it's not the other way round. Sorry but if and when I'm going to pay for a new device i expect to get the best available at the time especially hardware wise and if all the devices are roughly the same price. Now if that's not important for some of you fair enough it's your money there still isn't and won't ever be one device that's best for all of us.

Marc

I don't expect the OS/UI to be any different than 5800. However, the hardware.. Camera/Video, of course physical querty AND the feel of the phone will be different. Remember it is N series not a cheap toy like 5800 ;)
