*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

It's not going to be a firmware update because Symbian sucks horse doodoo. Hey, did the N95 ever get an update for Feature Pack 2? No, they expect you to buy a new handset. Each release of the Symbian software means the end-user must purchase a new handset, even with incremental updates like feature packs. Whereas nigh every other operating system, y'know, actually lets their users upgrade to new releases via firmware updates. It's bull; Symbian sucks.

If it had the 3430 it would have had HD video recording capability. What I should have said is that it is not the 3430 and we are still at the OMAP2420 level or equivalent.

Not for long. 1900 areas like mine have been getting blanked out and slowly replaced with 850 coverage, apparent here in Central Jersey and in lower Manhattan too IIRC. I wouldn't bank my purchase of the OmniaHD on that premise.

And the NAM WON'T be announced soon. Or ever. The closest thing to the i8910 with USA NAM is the Omnia2, packing WinMo and CDMA EVDO Rev A.

I gotta a call twice from flagship store Chicago that sales will start tomorrow as soon as they open.I was on their waiting list. They will hold it for me for 24 hours.Did not I tell you guys that flagship stores will get before any1 else, NokiaUSA.com sucks, their line ''Be the first one to get N97 if you pre order''

lol, this post is like a slap in the face for the million comments blaxx has posted here.

it is clear for most of us, that this is a convergence device between the stability and beautiful construction of an e71 with the coveted n series multimedia performance

you could put in the ghz processor into the samsung omniahd if you wanted, but qwerty hard keyboard is more important to most of us than that would be. for example, what is the difference between 0.5 seconds and 0.25 seconds for key presses in real life application.

i too am tired about hearing about mhz wars, but you cant look at stats, it must be measured on end user performance.
from the videos it is quite impressive, and if it lives to its billing, i will own one too.

I've been telling you guys to vote with your wallets, and if I was around in time for the glitch pricing, I would've voted for Nokia too. His point is the same as mine always has been; the N97 is not worth $700.

Ha.. This is classic.. When I sent an email via their support site (embedded on the site) I get this response:

I cancelled my pre-orders last night (probably why I was dreaming about the damn phone LOL) because if it does start shipping out on the 2nd, I don't want to be out of the country when they attempt to delivery it.

No, it's told you that Windows Mobile blows, but you should have known that.

You may not have seen the performance differences, but I certainly have. Hardware acceleration absolutely makes a difference in S60 devices, and I've seen the difference first hand. Why would I make this stuff up?

If anyone is still interested in my Pandora questions, I emailed them asking for info about their product on the n97:

"Hi Alex

Thanks very much for writing. Unfortunately Pandora will not work on the Nokia N97

We're still working to bring Pandora to more devices. If fact we would love to be on as many phones as possible. Since each version of Pandora software for a portable device needs to be separately developed and approved by the cell carrier, some are going take longer to build than others.

I don't know exactly when it will be available but I would encourage you to stay tuned to our "On the Go" page ( www.pandora.com/on-the-go ) for updates.

Thanks for listening in the meantime!

cheers-
Tom K@ Pandora"

It might keep the touch screen typing as well. The querty will just be a perk for ya. And since Guru says it will support US 3g, might have to get this when it comes out. don't have to wait for the NAM.

I am still very interested in this phone but I won't pay $1000 for it. This thing should start around $700USD when it arrives and I expect the price to drop from there and I expect to see it around the $600 mark within a month after release. I will not be an early adopter and will wait for reviews from the blogosphere and from early adopters. I will not pay over $600 for this phone. I spent that much on my N95-4 and it was too much so I will wait for the pricing to come down before I buy.
