*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

well said.. :buddies:

That's what I have been preaching all along...

They have been trying to compare the iPhone build quality to Nokia phones.. Yeah no dust could get it in there.. No duh!! Can't even take the battery out.. Also if that thing falls!! 90% of the time of the time Its over.. :disappoin

Nokia can definitely take a beating.. If you don't like your phone to take dust.. Don't even take it with you outside.. Or put it on a zip lock bags.

I am not expecting anything major from N97. As I said before simple on the paper expectations.. 5MP, GPS, N series NAM, 32GB + QWERTY! I pulled the trigger on it only because of the Nokia's 5/7 deal! It is not worth over $500 ;)

Spoke to lady at Sntraders 10 min ago, she put me on hold to do research and said that they are not getting Euro version anytime soon. She also said that Nokia has delayed shipment of nam version. It's typical response from retailers, when they don't have something in stock, they say ''Nokia delayed it'' We all know it's already shipping.

Considering that none of us have an N97, we can't answer that. Does they work on the 5800 XM? If yes, they will work fine. If not, they probably won't here either.

Yeah. While I'm glad Nokia finally stepped up to the plate and matched the iPhone screen (at least in size, if not capacitive), looking at the size comparo of N97 v E90... just imagine an "E97" with a truly gigantor screen. Probably stay with the "Clip/clop" mechanism of N97 scaled up a bit instead of the clamshell thing... 4" 16:10?

Another thing I'm reminded that I like from E90 is a minor nit on N97 keyboard. Couldn't they have moved the D-pad just a hair up and moved the shift button to the left? That would have let them go with a center and at least double/triple sized spacebar.

the next communicator might be announced by Feb at the 3GSM event... this n97 is NOT the next commie, i just wonder how the next communicator will be?

quit being picky and disable the widgets.....
There problem solved, I can't understand why people criticize Nokia for their deficient handsets. Nokia is gracious enough to let us purchase handsets at their inflated price point to help them through this tough economic climate. i mean it is not like the n97 is a rehash of other handsets (n95, n79, 5800), or that nokia will release handsets with better hardware (n86, e55). They still won't have the precious qwerty keyboard, that has almost no feedback or click to help users type much faster. And lets not forget about the number one reason we purchase nokia s 60 phones because almost no one else here in the states will have one. the marketshare is soo miniscule that we will almost never run into another phone user using one, thus preserving our individuality. Not like those smug iphone and blackberry user; they practically own the american smartphone marketshare, and it shows all you have to do is look around and see them using those handsets.

Long live nokia may their market share shrink so that i may preserve my individuality.

Engadget reported it being at $524 with the coupon code last night. I'm guessing they didn't like their pre-order numbers thus far and felt they needed a kick in the pants.

Maybe in MWC then? Eldar have been talking about the "E77" before tube got announced. Thought that's for sure that there will be E series TS at some point and if i remember right wasen't Nokia talking about 3-4 TS devices for 2009.
