*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Ha Ha, this thing is almost as big as a router! Not pocket friendly at all.

But I think you are right. But the operative word is "effectively." I don't thing we can even use wireless-G effectively on a mobile device. Due to speed limitations. You can't really expect mimo benefits out of this as you said..

So the only purpose would be to avoid speed drops due to a G device on an N network.

I know it only slows down for transmissions, but if you have push mail on it and you doing file transfers on the N network with a PC you will notice periodically.

Interesting tidbit I learned yesterday is that 3 antennas on it are the metal ring around the front, the metal ring around the headphone jack, and the metal ring around the "camera".

No, all lies like a typical retailer putting up false info that item is in stock to sell on outrageous prices.I called them today and the lady just gave me a lie ''It's delayed by Nokia'' Then why lie in red bold letters that it will ship in 3 days? She said that they are not getting Euro version for another month.

Nokiausa did not receive 5800 Nam on time, so they kept lying and arguing with me and my friends that flagship stores only have Euro Nokia 5800 when we all know that it was Nokia 5800 Nam, rep actually implied that I'm lying.

Expansys n97's main page says out of stock "normally 5-10 days'", but when you click it, it will show July 3rd.

popularelect.com almost all phones don't show ''Out of Stock' people just end up buying without knowing that it's preorder, sometimes they show false release date.

I hate when retailers who lie and put false info. For me it's called shady business.I've never listed an item online for sale unless I've it in my possession and I've taken pictures of it with my online id on it!

It's just a phone, stop being money eating machines  I just lost bidding for Omnia i8910 for just 470 Euro and popularelect.com has listed Omnia i8910 for 1000$ for 8gb version.

Specifically designed for your phone? Gonna assume you meant designated, else you must have some rich blood for every pair of pants being tailor made.

Or you wear a loin clothe with a pouch.

a user over at symbian freak has his n97 and has done a RAM test, on boot it has around 45mb free, then the widgets app starts automaticly and once RAM settles down the amount free is around 30mb, he loaded a youtube vid (via the desktop style) and the ram went down to 10mb, i realy want this phone but this sounds like the n95 when that came out and that only gaind 10mb ram with fw updates, just hope nokia can give ur a good fw update so we have about 70mb free or the n97 wnt work. My 5800 boots with 60mb free ram so i dnt expect there flagship to be worse.

Doesn't that kinda put them in a catch-22? If N97 is successful, shouldn't they continue to build on it and improve? If it fails, shouldn't they look at where the biggest criticisms and try to fix those? Does the time frame matter? Certainly, we'll all be pretty annoyed if they did it within say... 6 months or maybe even a year... but what if they take 18 months? Or 24 months? 36?

Hopefully they will release it as quickly as they did the E71. Maybe a couple weeks apart. If not at least it will have the 1900mhz band :P for early adopters

Depends on the phone. With me N78 I never had too look. I'm probably the only person in the world that liked that keypad.

With my N85 it's too flat to do that without looking. It's too easy to get the wrong key.

Will the N97 processor allow it to run SNES...? Ah man, that'd be the bomb s#!t. I don't even know if today phones are able to emulate 32-bit consoles, I thought only the PSP was the only portable device capable of such
