*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

The difference between 640x360 and 800x480 is only noticeable on devices with the same size screen. The Xperia's screen looks really nice for its size, but 640x480 on a 3.5" screen (higher than the iPhone, but the same size) will still look very, very good.

the stereo speakers are at the bottom.......where the qwerty keyboard is...... there is to slits....there...... when you open the device......the speakers are facing you....not the best place to have speakers but its not too bad either

Probably my most serious concern, but I've been doing pretty heavy usage. Haven't had any die outs but have had to recharge pretty much every day (got to 1 pill/level multiple times).

I imagine once the novelty wears off, I'll be able to recharge every 2nd or 3rd day.

I find it funny that inside the Terms of Sales and Return Policy they write "Rest assured, we are not in business to overcharge shipping. We respect you and want you to respect us and come back! Overcharging for shipping isn't the way to accomplish this. We have many satisfied customers and would like to include you among them!"

But when I add the N97 to cart and click on Canada, the shipping charge was *drum roll* $2,088.31!! For a grand total of $2,694.35!!

I guess the only consolodation for missing the coupon deal is that the first batch of n97's will have some issue (n95- slider issues, e71 reception issues)

I would guess the issues will be
- gap when closed
- screen ribbon on the slider will eventually rub out
- light leaks
- reception issues??

You guys really thought that you'd get the N97 by the end of this week? DOn't get your hopes to high, I'm pretty sure no one will get it before July. I hope I'm wrong tho.

Let me try to use an analogy that may or may not work. It's kinda like when you buy a PC from Dell and they have all that crap all over the desktop that you don't want like 90 days of free AOL, etc. Giving the phone a hard reset gets rid of the excess and any bugs it might have right out the box.

For example, when I first got my E71, I was able to load the Camera application but as soon as I captured a photo, the app would crash and the picture wouldn't get saved. I performed a hard reset and this problem was fixed.

It's exactly the same.
I don't get why they have to make the buttons on the side so enormous. They'd be better with just 2 buttons on the top and bottom corners or just as icons so we can actually use the 640 pixels of length. Plus it makes more work with the browser as you have to bring up the menu just to go back or forward then wait for the bar to disappear.
