*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Every text I've gotten from someone in my Contacts is showing their name as their phone number rather than the name in my phonebook. Any ideas what's going on with this? Anyone else having this issue?
 
:rolleyes: faster than they can make them?! Did the world economy suddenly fix itself and people have so much expendable income to spend on a niche product? With how the mobile market is now, you really believe Nokia's marketing and brand positioning can knock off the competition? Last I checked, Nokia was getting a good whooping and bleeding marketshare. The N97 is the Flagship, but it isn't the 2nd coming of the N95, the mobile landscape has changed.

No doubt that Nokia is a well known brand and has creative "euro" marketing, but market hype sells even better. Every reference to the Jesus phone, whether it be an accessory, used on tv/film, celebrity using it, is just free advertising. Nokia can only dream of getting the type of exposure and status the iPhone has gotten. Hate on Samsung all you want, but remember, Samsung has surpassed Sony when it comes to electronics sales now...and we know what kind of brand image Sony has.
 
Blaxx that's not it at all. Lets say you bought a 1.6ghz laptop 2 years ago. You used it and it died and fastfoward to now and it's time to buy another one. Lets say laptops in the same category"now" have 2.4ghz processors, would you go to the store and buy another laptop with a 1.6ghz processor?

Your logic with "throwing out the PC when new chips come out" doesn't make sense in relation to this because usually when you buy something new you hope that the hardware is up to spec with the times. Your statement only relates to someone who bought something amazing and top of the line then junked it the next day when intel announced the Pentium Infinity. I would hope that people who buy this are aware that they're getting a glorified N95.

Don't jump on me for just using the processor LOL I know theres more to it than that but really 2 years and they haven't gone anywhere in hardware is disappointing to me.

I don't want to bother arguing about this just wanted to point that out

I just browsed through ebay.co.uk and few of them selling orange branded i8910 and in the description they are writing ''Daddy of all phones'' lol

N97 still waiting... only pre orders. I wanna find some1 willing to exchange n97 with e71 and i8510 with i8910. Any1? :P
 
well then where is my 5800 with the letters? if nokia STILL hasnt fixed this bug with the 5800 then i dont have any faith that the n97 will get the fix.
 
I can deal with the slow processor, less-intuitive menus, and the other things I dislike about S60v5. But that ram is killing me. I could care less about multitasking other than specifically browsing and listening to music at the same time and I know with that little ram it'll be crashing. I can't do that anymore. It drives me insane on my iPhone and is the sole reason I'm getting rid of this thing soon.

I guess i'm out. See you guys when Symbian^4 or the N97 refresh gets here.
 
Do you stand outside a BMW dealership and tell potential buyers that they can receive better "value" elsewhere?

Thanks for looking out for the rest of us, but at the end of the day it's up to the buyer and the buyer only. "Worth" varies among each individual.
