yeah and i've been miserable with this qwerty e71 to be honest. n85 NAM next on my list.

gotta say this new home screen is FINALLY DONE RIGHT!
 
the n97 in the techradar review seems like the perfect example of the unfortunate but possibly rare unit that some ppl might get. it was missing contents and the phone was doing weird things. we've never seen the facebook problem on any other unit before. it just seemed incomplete. we should wait til everyone here gets one.
 
I'm laughing so hard right now.
A few days ago, most people here were bashing the N97 HARD!!!! some of them claiming that the iPhone would kill it and what not with the new features coming...Now that Apple announced it...everyone is joyous and can't wait for the N97....
The timing of Nokia with N97 available tomorrow was perfect (tho it's probably just chance)....

Maybe they don't need a new CPU. If they have indeed made improvements to the ARM 11 chipset then I'm all for it. From what we've seen so far, the phone looks to be fast and responsive. The real test is when everybody starts multi-tasking, at this very moment I have 7 apps running on my N95, I want to see it stand up to that test.
 
Yea! Me too. I've never watched soo many different reviews on a product from all around the world.

We all even read the decently translated N97 review from Mobile Review! :lol:
 
when i first read those Q&A's i got a bit hopeful that the phone isn't as underpowered as the mhz suggested. but "graphics chip_S": as in plural? there were a couple of gaming videos on YouTube (not full screen though) that made it seem that there was definitely something cooking underneath.

dying for the deluge of HoFo reviews to start!
 
Yeah I'll have to do that cause I don't get these people complaining about everything around here, this is a Symbian S60 forum but they come here to say that they hate Symbian, S60 and all that's related to it, talk about crazy people...
 
Can you clarify this? Telling me not to spread this line and then use economies of scale to justify a change in CPU?

I understand very well how the projected sales volume affects the proposed and final BOMs for the designs. Perhaps there some confusion about what exactly a processor change is at this point. Making a small change to a slightly differently specced CPU in the same processor family is indeed an option as long as it drops into the same PCB footprint. And the CPUs are not socketed so hopefully you meant that as the same PCB footprint. A change in architecture to a totally different family of CPU (OMAP to Freescale) is out of the question at this point unless they did development in parallel. This of course assumes that nothing else in the design changes. I never made the statement about the number or prototypes and know that board spins happen to address engineering changes to address anything from RF performance to digital spurious throughout your design. Changing to a new processor family means basically starting over from a digital layout perspective and one of the hardest issues to resolve is unintentional radiators and digital spurious that couples into your analog/RF designs. Even for a company as experienced as Nokia.
 
N85 yes you are right as it is a high end phone but not a flagship.
N95, N96 both were flagships and both operate smoothly i terms of speed and multimedia. No majors problems there.
