Yeah you would think. Most places can cancel an order that hasnt shipped yet and wont ship for months too. Nokia wont do that. I just tried to call but CS isnt available yet.
 
Hi there, I am curious as to why many people think a resistive screen is necessary for hand writing recognition? I have seen people hand write Chinese without any problems on the iPhone's native international keyboard with ease.
 
It was raining real hard this morning, I would have taken a pic with the new nokia N97 but they didn't have it in stock...jk i'd like to know if they have any in stock after they go through the call list. I know it will be cheaper to buy after a month or so online though...

wow lots of angry people over at symbian freak. i will agree in one sense, and that is that the CPU might be underpowered once you start loading up some cool apps on the phone.

everyone keeps posting that "the youtube videos show the n97 performs fine and its smooth". yeah, but that's with no apps installed. i wonder how much it will bog down once you get all your videos, music, and tons of apps installed on there. time will tell.
 
I got in another preorder at the lower price. If they won't let me cancel the first preorder, I might either 1) put a block in on my CC or 2) return it immediately and bite the return shipping. It will be worth it for saving almost $300 off the original preorder. :D
 
After using my E71-2 for a while, I think I have become a fan of Symbian devices.

I have a dumb question, though.

After using a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a for a while, one of the (many) things that annoys me about it is the *size* of the darned thing. The combination of the size and the slider mechanism and touch screen make it a problem for carrying in pockets in active scenarios.

Just out of curiosity, do we foresee the N97 being a better thing for active use, pocket carry than the Xperia was?
 
that may be but nokia seems to be stingy with concrete figures.

But my original point was that lately the n and e series haven't been selling well and truth post on another thread seem to verify this.

apparently the majority of sales that nokia seems to be making are of earlier n models such as the n80,n73, and n95. N85 and n96 appear to be faring quite poorly(this maybe why nokia seems to be increasing interests in touchscreen s60 implementation and subsequent devices over non-touch screen slider/candybar form factor).

The problem with 'piracy' is that people don't see it hurting others, as it's not a physical void they are "creating". And as Ricky said before, when it becomes easier to pirate something compared to legal methods, people will do it.

It's also brought on by the keyholder. Look at Apple's system of lock down and DRM. Look at the Symbian Signed initiative. They all HAMPER the legitimate consumer to the point that it's just not worth it to play nicely. That's what happened with the DRM in the music industry and it's gone now.

Apple's AppStore has found a way of gently forcing it upon users without them even knowing.
 
Yea, it's a pain. You can't cancel Nokia pre-orders and there's a chance that by the time you get your Nokia order the prices have already dropped.

Then you end up refunding and having to paid shipping cost... :silly:
 
We all know that MCO will always change their estimated dates...plus you have two former employees that became whistle blowers of some of their shady business practices...
 
I just looked through and only one person indicated they had their order canceled. Most (if not all) of us here on HoFo who ordered last night haven't had any problems calling Nokia and confirming our orders will be processed.
