*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

That "tuned" could really mean anything indeed. MR's Eldar said that the guts ain't the same as on 5800.... Hopefully Forum Nokia releases the spec soon(it's not like there's hurry when it's coming some where in next 7 months thought :D ), but it's usually in their site some time before the release.

No OMAP 4 is going to bring that. There is no dual core phone CPU yet.

But instructions per clock is said to twice as high on the ARM A8 Cortex. So that is what would make it twice as fast per clock cycle. Think about how a 2.2GHz Intel Core processor can beat a 4GHz Intel Pentium 4.

Buy from Dell 594$ , that's the cheapest I've spotted so far.I chatted with rep online to ask when they will ship, he asked when I want it, I replied, tomorrow :D

Yea but he keeps on talking with "If"s... like If they did this, or If they did that... hmmm... He does have some good points, but one one point, might be asking for a lot, lol. In the economic society we live in, we unfortunately will never see a perfect phone... Just upgrades and upgrades and upgrades. But for now, for the year 2009, I tihnk the N97 is a really great phone, very near perfection. The only thing that will bother me, is with the 32gb filled up, and a 32gb mem card filled up... will it lag up the entire system? Will it crash? Only one way to find out...

Don't those phones already come with a screen protector?
I never had to buy one for my 6500 Classic. It's been more than a year and it's still on. But on my other phones, it came off pretty quickly. But I'm sure it should last you AT LEAST a week

florida has both bands, a good amount of 850 mixed in. florida has like one of the MOST spectrum in the entire country with ATT. FCC goofed up letting them get away with that one.

and when you used one and make a comment like James Bond 007 said..

Your marked as a fanboy..

What is it really? Non S60 users = Noob S60 users = fanboy.

:o :o :o

This has nothing to do with the network connectivity and channel handling that we're talking about.

I have never had a handset kick a call to VM due to me using data. Never. UMTS, EDGE, GPRS. Browsing, streaming, tethering, mapping. Never. The data stream will be interrupted by injection and a voice channel will "open", provided the network was designed properly.

I've used many handsets, almost all were smartphones, on the same network and never had the issue.

I don't know what you AT&T folks are experiencing, but from what I read about the weak network being taken down at large events, I'm not that surprised.

just got an email from nseriesblog talking about some contest running over the next 7 days to find hidden N97's all over the world.

Also, had this tiny tidbit:

NOT ALREADY PRE-ORDERED YOUR NOKIA N97?
CLICK HERE TO BUY NOW, AND GUARANTEE DELIVERY TO YOUR DOOR ON THE DAY THE PHONE HITS THE SHELVES.

Guarantee delivery to your day the phone hits the shelves???

If they were really going to shine it on, they'd have given some control or adjustibility for the illumination like some car stereos do. Let you choose blue, white, or amber, for example.

Eric spotted the screen ribbon in his preview... hopefully it doesn't become an issue.

This is true but the important point is does it matter? Once I got my diamond setup I seldom leave tf3d and that works very well, in some ways better than the iphone. Even in the rare cases when you do get into windows you're not there for long and it still works ok despite the fact it was never designed to be a touch interface. If the noke can do the same Im fine with it.

It's also fine for those who bought the 5800 for 200 dollars and liked it.

I also jumped onto the 454 N97 deal... I'll never buy a Nokia at full price ever again

If I like the N97, the 5800 (which wasn't a big investment in any case) is going to my cousin, who does not yet have a cell phone, and is also looking to replace his very old iPod mini.
