*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

If the Omnia HD had QWERTY I would not consider the N97. The only thing the N97 beats in other touch device for me is S60 OS and QWERTY.

I don't really care too much on the touch feature, big screens - I love, big OLED screen - I love better. If Samsung adds QWERTY to Omnia, it'll put the N97 in the shadow.

Anyone knows the reason for delay? I've not read any official statement for delay.Seven months and counting is just too much! Nokia needs to release it like now, not tomorrow or next week because of other amazing phones in line for fierce competition.i8910 is already released and I'm bidding on it! Even Palm Pre is out, looks like Pixon12 will be out before n97.

Sadly, frustrated people had started calling Nokia ''Jokia'' in 5800 Nam thread.Nokia please don't repeat it again.I see few people in here canceling their orders! :(

Sorry, but not going to happen. The processor packages are totally different from one family to another with different pinouts and number of pins. Even if you had the specialized equipment to remove the processor it would be very difficult to get the new processor down. The code is optimized for the processor that was included on the design and wouldn't work on an OMAP3 or 4.

I had wanted to change the RAM in my E70 and did a lot of searching trying to find information on the RAM chip used to see if I could increase it to a 128MB chip in the same family. But the chips used in phones have the RAM and ROM in a single chip. So even if I found a chip that had the 128MB of RAM in it I may need special equipment to program the ROM that I just replaced as well so now I have no operating system on the phone.

Due to the compact size of the devices you know that they aren't any sockets for easy changing of the IC's and since many of them use BGA packages, it means a hard time changing the chips even if you could find them.

how bout this

samsung advantage:
upload to youtube out the box

old screen tech!

oh man it sure took a while reading sr's posts. Even though i understand that he doesnt hate nokias or the n97 he is just trying to tell us that it might not turn out the way we expect it to be.
But i have to tell u this sr, people believe that this device will be awesome and revolutionary and have been waiting for it since it was announced and you shouldnt try to crush their hopes like that. its not right and you just never know maybe it will be just what we expect it to be (im certainly hoping it will). Plus ur basing your opinions on previous experiences and that does not necessarily mean that it will always be like that.

I have sports tracker running on my 5800 but i had to get it from somewhere weird. Can't remember where. But it was listed as the version for the n97 and 5800. I found it using google.

I want this phone but for the price it is coming for, I might have to stick with the E71 for a bit longer.

Or I can save with the help of Wendy's 3conomics. haha

I'm pretty sure it will considering the Google Maps on my E71 always tries to establish what direction I'm moving in. It does a terrible job of it tho, I don't know why it can't just keep track of my last 5 positions on the map and establish a general direction. If the blue dot is moving north constantly, why is the blue arrow changing direction every 2 seconds?

considering the n97 copy/paste implementation is the SAME as its been on all their previous phones, which sold well, it looks like people dont care that much. i know my e71 did not have CTRL + C functionality.

sure, it sucks i guess, but i dont think its gonna actually affect sales in any significant way.

I'm not sure how the proximity sensor works in this case but the user guide specifically states not to cover it with tape or anything of the sort. You're always going to need a hole for the earpiece tho, keep that in mind before you stick it on your phone. You might want to cut it so it only covers the screen.

What's the difference between 505 and 506? And just out of curiosity, how come it's issued in Japan?

Why not just have have the nerd porn with underneat the slogan...?

Exchange on iPhone 3.0 is just as good as Roadsync. And guess what, Roadsync is $50 bucks, while Mail app is built-in to iPhone.

I'm more than certain Nokia Messaging' Exchange support is not at par with Roadsync. Which is at par with iPhone's 3.0 Mail app.

My last couple posts are something I'd think you'd be interested in. You yourself said that the E71 was an upgrade over the N95 for you because of what it brought to the table. I feel the same way with my E71 over my N95-4. My only real concern on the N97 is that I will loose the things I love about the E71 from a business perspective and am curious what Nokia plans to do in the touchscreen segment for E-series.
