I still wonder about that whole S60v5 for non-touch devices. What would be the point? I don't think it has any features that are not in 3rd Edition FP2 besides the ones that require a touchscreen. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Of course, all Apple fans are stupid (yes, bring it on! lol), 90% of iPod users were just brainwashed by the massive amount of publicity and popularity and followed the herd. (I'm only talking about the people who just own iPods. Mac Users, i can't talk with you guys, you live in a different universe, our languages are not compactible)

I'll ignore sr1329 and say that I do think the N97 and OmniaHD's implementations of S60v5 will be much better than the 5800. It will actually feel like a touch OS rather than Feature Pack 2 NOW WITH TOUCH!!!

The built quality is very solid from the 3 times I've seen it in person. The screen tilt is solid when opened and closed. I did noticed a problem with the paint job the 3rd time I saw the N97. It was a white one with a bad paint job and the light leaks on the green call and red end buttons. But that is a very obvious paint problem so I'm sure they'll fix it.

Other than that, the built is the best I've seen so far comparing to my experience with the other sliding N-Series phones (ie. N85, N95, N96...). It's so solid that If somebody never read the N97 manual or seen the phone's keyboard they probably never realized that there's a keyboard under the touch-screen. Unlike slider phone which I always accidentally slide open when I take it out of my pants, this one won't accidentally tilt open.

Yeah Im like 6-8 months behind the "technocurve"....I don't need 10 MP camera We have a Cannon Digital SLR for that kind of serious photography. Give me a GREAT 5MP camera instead. QUALITY vs quantity.

I won't upgrade again until 4G...Right now I would like a small wifi phone that has a better screen and browser than the N95. But I'm not ready to drop $700 on simply a form "upgrade" to what I already have. Its a $400 upgrade at best.

No backlight would have made me pass on this for sure LOL. I want one now, like right now, like yesterday. What the hell. H1 2009? This is gonna be a long winter and spring

I wouldn't drop $500+ on anything that I would need to convinced over. Especially something as transitory as cell phone tech. Even best case scenario, you're talking a handful of years and maybe as short as 6-9 months before the next big thing is out.

1). Yes it is there most of the time. It requires couple of touches to make it disappear in the browser. It is a pain.
2). The touch of 5800/N97 requires physical pressure as both are using resistive touch. Folks who used iPhone, must apply bit more pressure or use the finger nail to make it respond ;)

The lowest I'm seeing the BH-703 is $77 on evilbay... not bad at all to get it for free. I'd have prefered the 803, but that will do. :D

Does Amazon usually raise their price after the preorder or is it going to be static $603 for awhile?

^No backlight on the keyboard for their flagship model would have been a big no no considering how long they've been in the industry, lol. I'm psyched to see this phone come out and have its initial reviews. Looks very interesting and I'd like to see what Nokia has in store for the E series of 2009.

I have a black leather belt clip holder with a magnetic closure that I use for my backup Treo 750. I think it should be fine for holding the white N97. Carrying it in my pocket may not be as easy as the E71 due to the increased size and touchscreen, but maybe that could work as well.
