*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Nokia will sell fster than they can make them...why?

Its called Nokia's Flagship..even though its underpowered, Nokia's marketing is the most powerful Marketing groups of any company ( in almost every country, with internet arm now as big as Apple) . ...Plus Nokia a very reputable brand thats proven solid. People THINK Nokia is a good phone company .thats enough to get them to outsell the others. Samsung might have a fast product, but what do people think when they think Samsung I am thinking TV screens a blowdryers.

That's a pretty big feature to get OS wide and would probably require revision over most/all of the GUI layer with a few deeper under the hood hooks. Could possibly be in 5.1 but I'm not expecting to see it OS wide for N97. At least at launch.

Typically with other 3.2/5th Edition devices, you can change the preferred destinations or access points for individual applications, ie, the browser can either use a specific AP, use a specific destination, or give you the option to choose each time. If the widgets give you the option to do the same, you should either set it to connect to a separate destination that ONLY has an EDGE/3G AP in it or just switch it to that particular AP in general, if it lets you.

At that point you'll already be eying up the next latest and greatest phone. The more you wait, the more you'll want something else. But even then that something else will come out at a high price as well so you'll just end up waiting for that to go down in price. Vicious circle in which you'll never get a phone unless you man up and give them the asking price up front to have it first.

Way it goes.

Took mine off the first day and have not replaced it with anything. Screen is pretty resistant to finger nails and the stylus. But I did order a cheap $3 screen protector and I will cut out a piece to fit over the LCD part of the screen where I use my fingers. I think you can go without any "protector as I have been using the phone for awhile and nary an indication when I clean it off. These are pretty hardy screens.

Is better on Amazon. If you pay taxes the Nokia N97 comes up to ~$770 from Nokiausa.com but "only" ~$650 from Amazon. If taxes are not required on your state then you pay a flat $699 on Nokiausa.com with a free headset or a flat $604 on amazon.com without the headset.

Especially when you do not really need a headset then Amazon's deal is unbeatable as it offers much lower price.

Congrats! Just remember that your wife will probably kill you if you decide to film an N97 unboxing video instead of your baby being born LOL
