*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

The entire concept is pretty redundant, even on the iPhone. You press the hold button on top, then swipe your finger to unlock it. Now you have to to the same with the N97; hit the lock switch and swipe your finger to unlock.

I think it looks cool, but it's nowhere near as practical as just using the lock switch by itself.

The idea isn't to wait for the next device, because yes, we will always be waiting. That's how technology grows, and how it should.

I'm talking about having the proper device released the first time, not releasing a beta product that needs said improvements for a proper experience of the device. It's not about having the best cutting edge features available, because next year's model will have that. I'm talking about the "upgrade" device that merely fixes what shouldn't have been broken in the first place.

I don't take anything that guy said seriously. Why would the black version come out first when it's the white version that they've shown off significantly more since they unveiled the phone? There aren't even any press photos of the black version

maybe i am lost but i have seen youtube vids with portrait screen qwerty and landscape, also t9 for both and hand recognition basically everytype imaginable. I have pre-ordered on from nokia usa and a acer m900 so the battle will be on lol.

Boy......I sure would like to have my icecream right now. Was going with n96 .... but this stopped me in my tracks! Now its a waiting game. I hope this turns out as good as everyone seems to think it is.

Won't be unless you plan on messing around back there with your finger. That's what the feature bar is there for. I don't care much for the features listed on the back but I liked that line it said at Nokia World. 'The web now built by hand.'
