-Based on what I hear about the keyboard, I suspect that if we here were actually not buying this phone sight unseen, 2 out of 3 would not buy it. I shudder to think what blowback Nokia is going to take on this.

-In spite of negative experience with a couple of low end Samsung phones previously..if the Omnia was 3G compatible for USA it would be a no brainer for me over the N97 (given similar or same pricing)
 
This is why I want it in.

I mean think about it-if you have the N97 on a car mount, you won't be able to slide it up and use the keyboard comfortably. Using T9 in the GPS is a pain, and that's the main reason I want it in.

Plus, there are times when I don't need the keyboard slid up...if I can just get by with the virtual keyboard for typing in urls and texting not only will it save time but it also keeps the slide mechanism from getting worn as quickly.
 
The horizontal/vertical transition looked good, too. I think I prefer white and silver themes to start, but that blue is pretty nice. Was also on Eric's blog.

White N97 looks great nonetheless, though. My main disapointment with the the white iPhone is that it's just a back color piece with no visible differentiation at all visible from the front.
 
That's true. They just upgrade their security measures to prevent future robberies which is what the software developers should be doing and some of them already do. Notice that you don't see anyone with pirated copies of Gravity floating around?
 
The Nokia N810 with the "tear" browser matches or surpasses both N97 and Iphone 3gs on load time and "enjoyable browsing experience."
Yes, it has copy/paste.

Just think how it will perform when they come out with the next Nokia tablet with Maemo 5 (AKA Freemantle) OS and stick 3.5g and 2 or 300 more mhz cpu power and double or triple the ram and maybe even throw in Stantum Multi touch......

Iphone and anything else will be toast when it comes to portably surfing the web. And you get monthly, weekly, bi weekly, collaborative updates on the tear browser. You never know how many updates you'll get unless you check the thread discussing the browser but it will auto update if you already have it installed and open up your appplications manager.

Lots of programmers offering solutions to little bugs and actually doing the work and presenting it and sometimes the author accepts it. I've already seen more than two programmers comment that the tear browser will be the preferred browser for the next Nokia tablet OS.
I've seen comparison videos between iphone and N97 browser on youtube and the tear browser matches or surpasses it.
I've got choices for which browser I want to use and 256MB's of space to install shtuff instead of 128 [N97 flagshit] and most apps are under 10 mb's the majority are under 5mb's.
I can use the default Nokia browser, The Tear browser, the Midori browser (fast like tear but a little different) or the 2 browsers on the optional LXDE Ubuntu type OS that you can load onto the N810 and launch as though it is an app. The browsers are called iceweasel and epiphany.
Iceweasel totally acts/looks like firefox except seems a little unstable. Midori has tabs but no kinetic scrolling.

You name the website and I'll open it with Tear and we'll see who is faster and who can kinetically scroll all up and down the place first and I'll post it up on youtube.

You have to get my attention though cuz I'm not really reading these howardforums threads on the N97 anymore since I've got my N810. Try reaching me on Skype as aironeousb because I may not check back here on this thread and I always have my N810 and my N95 8GB with me so I can chat with you through Skype or gizmo or fring on the N810.

No 3D HW, only 128 megs of ram, a aging 5 mpxl sensor and no xenon flash.

Def phone of the century.
 
I understand parts are obviously even smaller than laptop parts, also meaning even harder to find. But they must exist somewhere, and there must be people in major cities that should be comfortable with the hardware. I'm an IT Tech myself, but cellphone hardware is not of my expertise, lol.
 
I am hoping for the same thing, combining my E71, N95 and N810. But the next tablet looks like it's going to be sweet. So, I too, will likely be carrying an N97 and one of the next tablets (rumored to be two devices but waiting for a hardware announcement to see differences). OMAP3 should bring some much needed performance increases to the tablet platform. Hopefully this bring the ability to run Open Office without having to screw around with gnumeric and abiword.
 
There is no way you can tell me with 5800 you can navigate as smoothly with 1 hand especially web browsing as you can on the n95-3 you have listed , no way i have the 5800 and it barely responds to your first touch to begin with then trying to clink a tiny link with 1 hand is a no go, like i said you can use it here and there with 1 hand but best navigation is with 2 especially web browsing.
