*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I currently use Missing Sync to sync PIM data between my Nokia E71 and my MacBook Aluminum, and it has worked flawlessly for years via different operating systems. I was first introduced to Missing Sync with the Palm OS version, and then I eventually progressed to the Windows Mobile OS version and now use the one for Symbian. An additional version is available for BlackBerry and worked just fine when I temporarily used it for a short time. There is a charge that is about $35 to $40, but the investment is well worth it.

Okay whatever, but I bet you have never in you life seen an actual Carl Zeiss lens (expect maybe on a pair of glasses since they operate in that business) or have touched one. You probably couldn't really afford one either unless you bought one to make a point. You probably don't have the skill in photography to warrant one. Or have a camera body that accepts one.

The plastic POS in all camera phones is not Carl Zeiss. The lens in Sony P&S is not real Carl Zeiss. Carl Zeiss the man would never put his name on such crap if he were alive.

It's the same as Mark Levinson and Lexus, except Mark Levinson is the kind of whore who would put his name on crap to make a quick buck from idiots. A real Mark Levinson stereo system costs more than any any car in the Lexus line-up except maybe the top end limousine LS.

But hey I guess you work on the level of eating THX certified popcorn and wipe your *** with THX certified toilet paper that is the same as store brand and worse than Cottonelle but you buy it because it is THX certified.

What PT Barnum said was so true.

I wouldn't say identical, just the cameras.

Call me innocent but I wanna give them a vote of confidence and believe that they are truly putting out the best product they can produce. My first S60 was the N95 and I am not as bitter as more experienced members of this board.
But if in fact they come up with the N97-2 then I will lose my cool. It's not a threat. Furthermore I don't believe I will make a difference for them. I will simply stop buying their phones. Simple as that.

i disagree with the palm pre, to me it IS a leading edge device. the camera is weak, but its hardware CPU at least is the next generation.

anyway i agree wtih steve about the 5800, personally i LOVE this device. for its low price point, it basically is 90% of the n97 at half the cost.

I think the 5800 is a tough plastic digitizer layer. I think that it is the ones with a thinner more pliable digitizer that feel "hard" since all you feel is the actual screen and not the digitizer layer. The 5800, lets you know you are touching a digitizer. The others less so, but you still can notice it a little.

Misunderstood. The keyboard is supported in the contact app. Typing contacts on the keyboard is not supported from the home screen. That's the test I did. Once in the contact app you can type the contact and it will filter from the available contacts.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but when Mark from The Nokia Blog said about the June 2nd date, wasn't that the date that the distributors were getting them?? If so, then they'll have to get them out to the retailers who'll then get them out to the customers, which will mean that it could be a little after June 2nd that everyone recieves them? I hope thats not the case, but thats certainly what it sounded like to me.

On your E71 go into contacts -> options -> settings -> default contact list.

You can choose from "Phone" and 'Conversation". So there are multiple contact lists. At least in E-series devices.

I think it should be the default SMS part of the messaging app or at least part of the messaging app also. It's weird how they did it that way. But I guess it was the only they could do it. I also guess that it is why they couldn't properly have it replace or become the default handler for SMS.

Such things sometimes make me wonder about S60. Why couldn't they do it correctly after so many years? It was a beta for the N95 years ago.

Has anyone figured out if you already preordered will we get the new lower price or not? I checked my CC and theres no charge from Nokia yet. If we call can they adjust the order I wonder.

Camera does look fast. From experience, what's the fastest processing camera phone? I don't know why reviewers don't point this out all the time, especially when they do those 5 and 8 megapixel shoutouts.

I loved the part when he was in the image gallery and kept trying to pinch the photo to zoom. Do you see what iPhones do to people? DO YOU SEE?!? LOL
