*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

funny, the N97 support pages, software tab says there is a sports tracker software for the N97, and when i do go to the Sports Tracker site, there is an icon for the n97, but when i try to DL it, it doesnt show.... too bad i want to try it on my 5800...

oh, just saw the 5800 sports tracker, but the same thing happens, it is not there...

Anyone miss the part where the keyboard isn't going to be lit up? That is a very bad move on Nokia's part. Why would they not put this feature in?! Boggles my mind, sometimes.

Wirelessly posted (Tastes like burning...: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95_8GB-3/20.2.005 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

Hopefully the announcement of this will knock the price on the N85 down.

It looks amazing, but I have a feeling the price is going to be out of my range. I'm also not a touch screen type of guy.

You guys are sure putting all yur eggs in the June basket. When was the last time any device released when stated it would? For all my fellow nokia brother and sisters on the forum I'll be pullin' for ya! Here's to June! :buddies:

No way it's going to be that cheap crap resistive screen that physically depresses when you touch it. Big let down in that department. Frankly I'm leaving touch screen to people who who have shown some progress in implementing it (I won't mention the obvious name here). I can't say S60 touch is any better or worse than WinMo in how it operates.

Anyway sorry for the negativity, but the point is that if you are expecting glass try the Omnia HD.

This simply isn't realistic. Just because you don't know what Exchange is doesn't mean that it's not important to address now. (BTW, if you've ever worked in an office where you had an email address, you know what Exchange is). For a smartphone, to not support Exchange right out of the box is not gonna fly in 2009. You could get away with it 2 or 3 years ago but with everyone trying to streamline everything into their phone, it's important to take care of those of us who use our smartphones to y'know...do work on.

Since when did this change to the OFFICIAL THREAD: NOKIAUSA.COM SUPPORT... d@mn, for the past 4 pages, all i've been reading is tax issues, promotion issues, website issues, blah blah blah... Anybody actually got any news about the phone itself? :P

That's right and on every game controller on any system I've seen.

I understand that when most people hold a phone they hold it in their dominant hand which is usually the right, but when holding a device in a mode that needs to be held with both hands, using the left hand for directional controls will become second nature.

do you know how many people would complain about that placement? they would complain worse than they already do now. plus i say the current placement is MUCH better than dividing up the keypad putting it in the middle. talk about the more odd design, splitting the bottom row is horrible.

Are there more than two of you so far saying it's unacceptable? Maybe you should do a poll. :)

You're the guy who said who said that's all it is. I was quite tongue in cheek (if that wasn't obvious) and wasn't seriously quoting the spec list. But then I'm still waiting for your list of comparable mid-range phones with all those features.

ericscorner.blogspot.com/2009/05/nokia-n97-preview.html

for starters. He's hardly alone by saying the browsing experience is far improved.

You're lost in the sauce, homeboy. I had Opera Mini on my last phone and have it on my current phone (which is just my backup/standby since it's only GPRS). And will probably put it on an N97, too, depending how much improved the stock browser is.

GO ahead and add it in your cart and proceed to the checkout. It says PRE ORDER for both black and white. So dont get your hopes up...

Me either, though I have supplied some decent rez shots for projects I've worked on. This works great for Nokia since they haven't released the processor information and you can't really tell what they're using from the pics. Hard to work out a general BOM from the pics as well.

To not expect N97 to receive at least a few updates through the year (or even two) is pretty non-sensical. Not sure if you're playing devil's advocate or trolling on that.

N86 is on sale outside of the US, you can buy it on ebay for $560 shipped and take 8% off that with MS Cashback for about $505 total.

Tom Tom has cited piracy as a reason for not developing for S60. It all comes down to the business case. I'm sure that EA is going to sell way more legal copies of FNR4 to justify the business case. I can't say the same for TomTom.

Thanks for posting those-you're right, I want june to come now. Then again it'll be later because I won't be getting one in the first run of phones. :(

One thing kinda bothersome though..

I really hope it won't be a problem.
