*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

You're talkin about it coming out this summer? Get real Prom, we won't see that phone until next year. It's about as real as a concept car right now. I bet the 12 megapixel image sensor they had on the model at MWC didn't even work

The iSync plug-in had worked for me with past Nokia devices, but there were a few instances for me when iSync was not reliable.

I have taken to the Missing Sync for Symbian app from mark/space. For almost a couple years I had used Missing Sync for Windows Mobile, Palm, BlackBerry, and Symbian OS versions. I still use it to this day for my E71 and have become accustomed to the automatic Bluetooth proximity syncing.

I am hopeful that Missing Sync will work with the N97, otherwise I would have to settle for a data transfer from the E71 and update my Mac separately. I am cautious to return to using iSync and have the possibility of dealing with iSync being unreliable.

That is true, but if you are on at&t it doesn't really matter because you're going to be using a contract anyway.

Keep in mind you gotta factor in the extra money for the data plan..but even then it'll be around $600 total for 2 years. If you're smart enough you can fake your IMEI to save money :p

I applaud you sir. No need to read anything else. :buddies:

Just heed my warning in the future. Nokia will do this again as they have for years now. Remember what I said.

ah dang so hyped for this phone. we all know nokia could do better, but we have been asking for a qwerty Nseries phone. it also has that iconic look that the n85 and n86 have. lets see what happens june 2nd :D

The silver triangle is definitely the screen protector. All the Nokia phones that I've owned over the past 2 years have had that screen protector on the devices. It's a decent screen protector. But it will eventually come off. The silver triangle does not stick very well to the screen.

I'm watching the video and slowly losing interest because of the language barrier. I just wish I knew what he was talking about and what some of the menus are saying. Still watching though...

I know they will NOT cancel the preorder, I tried. Funny they dont have the product to ship but they will not cancel an order that they say is already "processed". And now a price drop, wtf.

Wow, it's seriously coming in that plain box? Where are the colors and snazzy graphics and stickers advertising 3 months of free navigation with Nokia Maps. Where is NOKIA N97 plastered on the side of the box in HUGE letters?

Stupid recession.

the person who said the palm pre will kick the n97's behind shouldnt be so sure just yet i mean it is PALM we are talking about and it doesnt have a micro sd slot either for the meomry which is a bummer but it is gonna be a interesting war between these 2 phones.

Well, number of texts has never been an issue (for some reason it NEVER lags). Did not upgrade to OS 5.0 because I heard it had issues, but going between OS's in 4.6 is easy, from what I know you cannot downgrade from 5.0 to 4.6 so I'm using the latest 4.6, but it backs up all settings as well if I go from 4.6.x.x to any other 4.6.x.x. OS. Something I really like!

Even on WM's, the update process is not tricky, after using the tools off XDA Devs website (First time I **** bricks, but then became confident). Nokia's process is a bit slow. iPhone's probably the most idiot-proof. (Ever see Quickpwn's illustrated iPhone update-for-dummies? - I thought it assumed iPhone users on Mac were morons or something, and insulted my intelligence).

it's a personal opinion but,
if u wanna stick out and look different, get the n97.
if u wanna look like everyone else who has iphone 2g, 3g and 3gs..cause they all look the same.. then get that

A lot has changed in NAM's sure, but Apple did something different in the cellphone market. They made a HUGE splash, more importantly with just one device.

Nokia isn't a household brand like Apple is. With their Macs and iPODS, they are a known quantity. Aside from on-line forums, what is Nokia known for?

Nokia won't be able to make a splash like that in the US because they will more than likely never get an agreement like Apple did with AT&T. Whether it be Nokia's own fault or a carrier not wanting to do something like that, I just don't think it would happen.

N97 is a great device, but Nokia hasn't put everything into it like Apple did with their one device and therefore they will not be able to put out something that has one feature everyone wants( touchscreen at the time ) and will be bought even though it is substandard and lacking a lot of more common features.
