*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

It will get a version of Nokia Messaging. No one knows for sure whether it will be one specifically for the N97, S60 5th Edition (I hope cuz the 5800XM really needs a good email client besides ProfiMail) or the same one as the Eseries devices.

Sorry but Symbian is nowwhere close to what PalmOS was.
PalmOS never had:
TV Out
30fps video recording let alone 15fps until the past 1-2yrs.
NEVER had the device sales like S60 units did for the past 4-5yrs.
SMP is not supported on PalmOS and doubtful on WebOS by Palm
MultiTasking was NOT supported on PalmOS - don't confused paused apps as multitasking; Music Playing in the background is the only possible close relevance.
Finally Palm had poor direction boucing in and out of using/choosing their own upgrade, Cobalt to Linux 3 times before almost going bankrupt and getting a trust fund investment to re-organize for Access Linux then fail again to get it without needing to advertise it.

Before 4 reps from Apple worked at Palm they where floating by the tip of their nose in the deep of the Atlantic Ocean.

Anyone using SE HBH-DS205 with the N97? Interested in this headset but worried it won't be 100% functional with the N97... Either that or have any recommendations on a headset that has caller ID type functionality, A2DP, a 3.5mm jack?

Also looking for avi video and a VNC app. Post if you find anything!

After looking at some of the new N97 pictures, I wonder if the chrome ring around the screen will scratch easily.

Anyone who has played with a demo unit, do you think the chrome ring will easily scratch like the iPhone?

No it's not the same. The way Nokia has always done it, each device has a custom version of the OS. Judging by past devices, N97 will always be S60v5. You won't even get the next feature pack let alone an entirely new version of the OS.

I'm a big fan myself but I don't think the movie sucked. It just wasn't really good LOL. T3 is the misnomer when it comes to the Terminator series. You either have to retcon a bunch of stuff (like they do in Terminator Salvation) or pretend it never happened (like they did in the TV series). It's a shame the show got cancelled though, I hope someone else picks it up but that's doubtful. I know it won't be ABC, NBC or CBS and it's too expensive to produce for cable networks.

I finally managed to talk to somebody (with help from kevn00) and it was just a pre-authorization thing, not the real charge. False alarm, sorry.

But **** NokiaUSA, the WORST customer service in the world.

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking when the Pre was announced with a WebOS. I see so many that are impressed with the Pre without really seeing that much of it. I have a number of reservations on performance that will keep me from being interested in this in the slightest.

Not to mention how much control Apple and AT&T have over what content is actually allowed on the phone. At least with even the most branded S60 phone, you can still accomplish some side-loading of apps.

I agree..tell the truth after reading the reviews and ckg out this device, if I hadn't been lucky like you to get the glitch deal, I'd canx my order and just keep my N95. That device IMO is about the best thing that's come out and I really don't have a fever for a new device..but the price was too right on the $454. No way I pay more-I'd get the 3rd gen Iphone subsidized before spending more on this N97

You wrote a lot. But this pretty much sums it up. Technology that responds to you - not to specs, not to another network's desires even, but to you is where mobile and everything else is going. The Pre is very much ahead of the game with this - and to think that this was developed 3-4 years ago, think of what they have in the mind-labs now :goodness:

sr1329: I like the way you think man. Someone better be paying you well for your insights in whatever field you call home.
