*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I have to somewhat agree... I get many more different reviews from other websites and every time i try to look up the latest Nokia phone on any cnet continent website it shows instead all of these phones that have very little hardware equipment and none of the latest N phones are on there and a few androids also. A couple times after that I decided cnet is no longer unbiased.

I have relied on Missing Sync for a long time to transfer only my PIM data. Unfortunately, you may have to pay to play, but it can be seen as a worthwhile investment.

I currently do not transfer media via Missing Sync since I would prefer to go the old-fashioned route of dragging and dropping onto a microSD card connected to my Mac. With my N97, I can connect it to my Mac via USB in Mass Storage mode and transfer media in this manner as well. The two times that I have transferred media via Bluetooth on Missing Sync were no problem at all, other than the time it took for everything to sync.

Hi all,

Sorry who says that S60 V5 doesn't support SIP as that's certainly not the case on the Samsung i8910 and here is a screen shot to prove it.

A few questions from someone who never saw the N97 or the 5800XM:

1) WTF is that side menu when the screen is in landscape mode? Is it there all the freaking time or is it something I can bring up when I want to?

2) I'm guessing the touch experience on the N97 will be somewhat similar to that on the 5800XM. Watching this last video, it seems like the phone misses about 20% of the touches. Is it really that bad on the 5800XM?

3) Does anybody have experience using a 3-row qwerty keyboard? Most qwerty have 5 rows and I have the impression that the one on the N97 will be a pain in the butt (space bar on the side, all punctuation require two key presses). I know that with the tilted slider, keys in the top row are kinda difficult to reach (I had the AT&T Tilt for a while) but couldn't they have designed a keyboard with an easier learning curve?

if you have used E90, there is no longer such thing as too tall, too wide, too heavy... if you really want it and uses it that much, then just carry the load...

Same here, received my email Friday 4pm except mine said June 9th to june 22nd. I guess there is a crap load of people buying from Amazon.

Wait a second, maybe it is also a factor of what color you ordered.

Well boys and girls.. My latest issue of not being able to re-download a purchased app without re-buying it from Ovi has pushed me over the edge.. I'm canceling my N97 order tomorrow and sticking with Apple.. Who are we kidding.. Nokia can't compete. They've proved this with the 5800 launch, N97 launch, Ovi Launch and their overall careless attitude to their customers. Not to mention the complete lack of any focus in North America..

I'm a long time Nokia customer (8600, 8800, 8800 Sapphire Arte, N95-5, E71, 5800 etc in the last 3 years) and I have just had it.

As nice as the N97 looks to be, the real driver is going to be the Ovi store, and it's pathetic.

Currently Idou runs S60 5th Edition - everything shown of its system is of that. IT will at release time run Symbian Foundation ^2 (two). If released before July then its 5th Edition if in late August it may possibly be SF ^2.

5/31 would be VERY nice. Hopefully Nokia USA isn't TOO Far behind, or I'll be picking this up from a street dealer around here with their own contract most likely.

I'm really not too sure about the review at this page. There are a few things that really stick out and seem super strange to me:
- The sketchy call functionality (I highly doubt it - Nokia has been known to have EXCELLENT reliability and quality for making phone calls etc...)
- The lack of a stylus, lol
- The overall problems and errors experienced with some of the applications.

This guy, CLEARLY did not receive a final production version of the phone.
