*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Noooo, that is ridiculous!!! 850 Euros?!?! Impossible! I refuse to believe that... I never trusted Expansys anyways, they always have the highest price... My budget for this oh-so beautiful phone is 1k... if they're telling me my dream will not come to life... then i dont know what to think of the world anymore, lol.

Well that's just math. The iPhone 3G was clocked at 411mhz so going up to 600mhz is less than a 35% increase. Without factoring in all the variables, the clock speed would have to double the former speed (or software would need to be optimized properly) to achieve a 2x gain in load speeds. Twice is fast is still a lot, and if they were able to do it with only the numbers we know, more power to them.

If you're interested, there has been some data posted about performance on the 5800XM and the i8910 using Speedy Go! already. Whoever has gotten their N97 might want to post their own results.

same can be said about you, with your endless posts about how great this phone is and is it june yet. It is however quite disconcerting that the n97 as nokia's flagship product is a midrange phone with a high end phone price. Maybe that is nokia's new strategy gouge their loyal customers and pocket the profit, after all in this economy mobile phone company's aren't doing so well (except for apple and rim).

Well I had a preorder for thr 5800. When I read that the NYC store was already selling the 5800 I went into the city and bought one, came home and cancelled my preorder. I believe the preorders did not ship out until at least a few days(or more) later. I guess if you go back and look at the 5800 thread you can retrace the steps and see how that release actually happened.

In LA, from Chinese owned AT&T authorized dealers, you can usally get about $200 (more for higher plans) cashback for signing 2 year NEW contract if you don't take a phone. (renewing won't get you much benefit as the store don't get much commission for renewing existing customer)
If you ask for a non-carrier (non-subsidized) phone, like N97 in this case, they can get you the phone for phone price - $200 (or whatever cashback you can get).
If you ask for a subsidized phone, you can even get better deal.

Interesting theory..maybe they know how to manipulate the pre authorizations with the goal of getting a denial. The difference with the authorization put on my card yesterday is that it lowered my credit limit by that amount-maybe I didn't notice that before however..

Hey everybody, I just received a package from Indiana from Nokia by FedEx just a little while ago. I was one of the people who purchased the N97 and the 5800 when the glitch occurred on the Nokia website in early May. My Nokia N97 and 5800 have both arrived. I just ordered a few screen protectors just now from Clarivue for my N97, so I am not going to open up the N97 box or fire up the phone until I receive the screen protectors for it. I am only going to fire up and use the 5800 for now because I already purchased screen protectors for the 5800 already back a few weeks ago. Hopefully, I will have lots of fun with both of these phones.

Not getting a case for the half-hour I unpack the phone, turn it on, **** it, repack it and put it up on craigslist.

But were I planning to keep it, I wouldn't get a case. Just a loose pouch to keep it in my pocket.

Your dream will come to life, just not that sooner, might a few months or a year later.
A N95-3 can now be at $299 which I bought mine for $499 a year ago.
