*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

This is what I fear about the N97. FaceBook & Nokia did announce that their working on a FaceBook app; mths ago and featured on Symbian-Guru's podcast. But those of us using S60 now have nothing to use other than the mobile site which blows. m.facebook.com works, x.facebook.com doesn't.

Nokia is going to extreme/great lengths to assist and court developers wishes in getting their work onto S60.

LOL you still didn't answer the question, was the iPhone with lower specs a fail? I didn't say that processors and ram specs were basically worthless, in fact I said quite the opposite, nice try with the straw man. I said that the N97's cpu & ram specs were mediocre, nothing more, nothing less. Go ahead, cite dozens of phones with better specs, it's a non sequitur, it still doesn't change the fact that the N97 is not a fail in the category, but instead a mediocre.

Whoa were did OVI come into this? Wrong thread guy. But since you brought it up, I'd agree, so far OVI has been a fail, lets see if it's just birth pains, or a chronic condition. Jury is still out. :2thumbs:

One of the widgets looks like an "Active Standby" widget where you can have 4 application shortcuts which are configurable (I assume you can configure them because in almost every photo or video, there are 4 different apps there).

I can't dispute there being no on-screen keyboard but I wouldn't blame them if they left it out.

Show me an Android device without a "chin" and I'll feel a lot better about it LOL.

I'm playing. It doesn't really excite me but I've never used it hands on. It's still in its infancy and I'm sure it will only get better (hopefully with less Google). The G1 is an affront to God by the way.

So yesterday I went to the Nokia Store on 5th ave... The sales associate had one for use... Quick impressions before I had to leave was browser much improved speed wise... Device is faster overall! A lil clock speed bump does make a diff between it and the 5800 xm... the device is not big its really sexy actually. The keyboard sucks monkeys nads.... default theme is just eh... I didn't try the widgets link the screen still requires a few presses before anything is rcognized depending on the font of the link. But overall its improved over the 5800 xm as well... I don't think for me its enough for me to buy as there are really a lot of other choices out to experiment with... but its a solid device!

Yeah I saw somebody said that. Since it's a slide qwerty, the thickness is acceptable afterall. I only wish it was a little wider, it still looks skinny like the 5800 compared to the iphone.

Does anyone know the thickness in contrast to the X1?

I totally disagree with you that Bold is better than most N series devices when it comes to multimedia. Check out N96 for Video AND Audio playback & Video recording .. Bold is much much inferior. Yes I had Bold & N96 for good 2 months & saying based on my own experience. Also, N95-x/N85 beats Bold by a mile!

I think they kind of had to at that point since they kept us waiting 2 years to bring out the N96 which most didn't like and they had to do what they could to keep some interest in the fabled S60 touch product that we'd been hearing about for 2 years.

They must have a few touch screen phones coming out or in the pipeline. The only one I would possibly be interested in is a touch E-series if and when that comes out. I hope they are going to be sensible about leaving some hardware buttons on that one. Because an E-series just wouldn't be right without buttons.

Nokia RF hasn't failed me, not even on the E71.

No need for apologizes.

After reading a bunch of phone talk it's good to look something different.

Good boobs are always good! :buddies:

so if the specs hold firm the iphone is doing exactly what nokia is putting out the same model with minor upgrades. Same screen resolution when others even nokia on screens 3 " and above have higher resolutions they had a 600 mhz already, so you are basically upgrading memory and camera and adding a radio wow this sounds familiar 2 yrs and no change, why even leave iphone 3g unless you want i better camera.
