*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

This was very true with the N95 too. A loose slider to some was just fine for others and it caused a lot of debate around these parts. I was convinced I had a loose slider from the posts of a lot of people here. Then I felt my friend's original N95-1 after she had it for months and understood what loose really meant and realized mine weren't that bad. Then, I bought a brown N95, followed by a red N95 for the girlfriend, and they both had the tightest sliders I've ever felt.

It's all subjective, but it seems the general consensus for those who have used the keyboard is that it is a no-go.

My licensed copy of quickoffice seems to work just fine on my n97. Does anyone know what they plan to do for those of us that already own a licensed copy and want to transfer it to the new phone?

Edit: maybe this is possibly why my bt keyboard doesn't want to type numbers?

Thats cool...I want to cancel my pre-order as well, but the glitch price of $424 USD is too hard to pass on...could be I don't even open the box and put it on sale on this forum

Eh.... "Symbols" then the appropriate one (for a touchscreen) or thumbing through or selecting the number of the character? Shift and Function will work for me.

T9 will be nice in portrait mode.

It's all taxes and VAT, just like in DK. On the other hand, if you get involved in an N97 exploding battery accident, you're government will cover the surgery and hospital fees.

That was a mistake. I never actually clicked the submit button. I fell asleep and when i woke up my screen was totally black and unresponsive (happens whenever i leave a divx video load up and fall asleep) I restarted the computer and was thankful that I had not posted that angry tired intoxicated comment.

Somehow it got posted anyways. Oooops, sorry.

The fact that this phone is still in beta mode to react like this.. A product Manager had told me it will just get better as they progress to the Official Availability Launch..

gwapz and Mark both got a chance to handle, fondle and otherwise molest the N97 and other phones at the S60 meet a few weeks ago. I dunno whether that was in Chicago or NYC tho.

Did not get there yet. Still at 12:11. I knew there was some fly in this ointment. Yes, I absolutely agree. Kinetic scrolling must be on ALL aspects of the interface not just a few handpicked ones. All apps must support it via a framework as well. They also need to address contact selection in the contacts app. Nothing is as fast as the iPhone in finding a contact with scroll and 3rd party apps implemented contact search on the iPhone so either way it is effective.

EDIT: Sorry double tapping in the browser is still retarded. Far from the iPhone which intelligently resizes the text to fill the screen. I will HATE using that retarded options -> zoom -> zoom bar (which works like crap - can't ever get the right zoom without a stylus) -> exit -> full screen. Just to be able to properly read a web article? That's far too much especially if your research needs you to look through a few different web pages. THAT MUST BE FIXED. IF YOU ARE READING THIS MR SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER: GET THAT FIXED. Based on that fact alone, I can safely say the iPhone has the better browser.

EDIT2: Just saw the menu scroll. Yeah, very weak. Imagine doing that in portrait mode where your finger will be rubbing up against the side lip of the phone. Also they need to get rid of that stupid side menu. It should auto-pop up with a gesture like a zig-zag on the right side of the screen, much like Boss Prefs does.

All in all, I see this as a step in the right direction but much still needs to be done.
