Love the illumination on the white. Black didn't look as attractive as it had before. Definitely can scroll while the page is still loading by that demo.
 
I imagine we'll see both hardware and firmware upgrades. I would expect at least a year before we see a hardware change, though. Possibly 18 months or so. The 8mp thing seems more likely than a new processor with upgraded RAM next (RAM always gets cheaper at scale and would occupy the same space for doubled (quadrupled?) density...
 
So i cleared my cookies and everything and it still shows up as 699 when i try to pre-order. Can i preorder with the 10% coupon and not get the BT headset?
 
No, no, no. He'd go but the whole night, he'd be playing with his N97. By the end of the trip, Jonty won't have any friends and would have wandered aimlessly into traffic because he was playing with his phone lol.

Even so, my ultimate point is that just because I'm not interested in the OmniaHD and that the N97 is more suitable for me, I'm not up in that thread proclaiming it's lack of keyboard or lack of storage space.

I don't think any of us interested in the N97 care what processor is in it, as long as it works. I doubt Nokia cares about debate on forums, either.

Certainly noone telling you to stop posting, but I'm questioning your motivation for making sure everyone knows. I'm in this thread to see news about it, not to see why some people think I shouldn't buy it. I'm not browsing the OmniaHD thread because it lacks features that are essential to me and I don't care if a bunch of people buy it anyway.
 
Hey Truth/Jonny thanks I think this is more constructive. Anyone whom likes S60 will love the N97. It is a beautifully built phone, but I did not like the keyboard....it's just not for me at this point. Maybe I'll change my mind when the white one comes out :D
 
Yes, but its on the inside and you have to slide out the keyboard every time.

The device is designed primarily for that open keyboard landscape use. So I would get used to thinking about using my device that way most of the time if I were getting an N97.

The device seems geared for more involved uses of a phone like typing out large documents or spending a lot of time in that open position like a laptop.

But it sacrifices usability for some of the more important uses of a pocket device to me which would be quick access to people, locations, information on the go.

It is admirable to make a sort of "laptop phone" but I picture it to be a kind of "sit down and spend some time with me device". I personally like to pull my phone out as little as possible and put it back in my pocket at the earliest possible moment after doing what I need with it.

I am an information seeker. The faster and the less fanfare the better.

That's my preferred mode of usage with any device. I like to be discreet about my device and use it as a tool without drawing any attention to the device itself. So if I have flip this big thing out every time, it becomes a major attention draw. I don't really like that. I like the E66 because it's so discreet. Like a wolf in sheep's clothing. I actually had someone ask me if "that tiny thing" sends e-mails. I found it all amusing.

The N97 would be great for people who take extensive notes on their device. Not sure if I wouldn't rather have a Vaio P if that were my need though.
 
After a long 2 days of back and forth, debating whether to get the phone or not and on which color, I decided to pre-order it in black.

I realize that it has it's flaws, most of which I don't care about, and it's not the latest and greatest in certain aspects but it's the phone I've been waiting for since the announcement. I know I'd regret not buying it once I upgraded to another phone over the summer.

One of the biggest selling points on this phone to me is the physical keyboard. Coming from blackberry to iphone, I missed the physical keyboard too much and I've had the iphone for well over a year.

Just wanted to also add that this thread was a great read, especially in the past few days.
 
I've only used one at the flagship stores (too expensive/big), but the keyboard on it should be a benchmark for all of Nokia's other keyboards. It really is that nice.

When I was heavily interested in the N97, I was looking for it to be a replacement for an E90 I never owned, but it seems to be just the opposite. Having tried out a lot of hardware QWERTY's recently (N97, E71, Curve, Palm 755p, Palm Centro, E90, E75, G1, Sidekick 2009), the N97's ranks the lowest. It's not unusable, but it's close.
 
Well there's some obvious light leaks on the white one I was playing with, so I'm sure they fix that. Chase didn't say anything on what will be improved, he's not allow to talk too much about it. People asked about the CPU too but he claims he don't know.

RM-505 is the EURO version.
 
I nearly choked on my breakfast laughing at this!

At the end of the day it is about how easily a phone can be integrated into one's daily routine. I am hoping that I won't have to sacrifice too much from my E71.
