Just got back from NYC flagship. Did not buy as I think 700 plus tax is too steep for this phone (even though I bought the n95-2 at full price when it was first released)
Played with it for 5 mins. Thoughts
- store was quiet, no frenzy or atmosphere over the n97.
- phone does not feel cheap, feels like a quality phone
- I expected the phone to be too large, it actually right. Comfortable to hold. No complaints over the size
- OS seems decent speed, some pauses in some places, but over good but not blazing fast
- camera took a few seconds to process a photo. I was hoping to be able to hit out multiple shots. Took several seconds to start the camera too, nothing instaneous.
- screen looked crisp, sharp. No complaints
- not sure how this screen will hold up over time with scratches since its not glass
- touch screen seemed responsive enough, didn't notice any major flaws.
- the double tap, single tap using is stupid and confusing. No consistency.
- the OK and Cancel on onscreen menu buttons take up too much screen space. Stupid
- the keyboard is horrible, horrible. There feels like no travel in the keys, felt like a touch sentive keyboard. Will get major getting used it, not even sure if thats possible. Dare to say the keyboard sucks just as bad as the iphone onscreen keyboard! Would have to spend 10-20 mins in the store to figure out if I could really get used to the keyboard (I love the e71 keyboard)
Other than the keyboard and price, I think Nokia have a decent phone. If I can get for under 600, I would probably get this phone
