*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Free memory numbers doesn't mean anything, can you share the link to the thread? I'd like to ask him if he tried to open at least 3-4 programs and load the same youtube video, if everything keeps working fine then I don't see a problem, but if applications starts to close or lag too much then that's a problem.

I hope Nokia really ship my phone today, I got the stupid 3-day shipping and now I have to wait even more time :(

Arent one of the gripes about the pre is it lags, look at the cnet video, and from the videos of the omnia the way it renders pages was nothing faster than the 5800.
Real time use is the tale of the tape and does the iphone have 128 ram still?

I tried using VA, MA, DC, and GA. They are charging taxes everywhere. They might be having distribution offices or some office in all states to be charging us tax.

i'm sure he's aware of that but apparently he found it hilarious.

if it did have 512mb though... it's safe to say that apple would've flaunted it to the industry.

errr... N97 Lipstick? :befuddled

^very true. he made good points in the video. n97 doesn't excel in any one area but gets the job done for everyone's needs. and this is why it will appeal to a lot of people.

I've been an amateur photographer in my spare time for a couple years now and Carl Zeiss the person, means so much more than Carl Zeiss lenses with the people that I've worked with and learned from. I don't even know why they make it a selling point. More megapixels don't necessarily make a great camera but neither do name brand lenses. It's not so much that everybody has 5MP cameras now that is really bothering us, it's the fact that even entry level Nokia phones have 5MP cameras, shouldn't the Nseries flagship phone differentiate from the 6700 Classic?

Any iPhone spec arguments are moot, Apple is just upping the specs for show. It's not even a smartphone for christ's sake. Of course, it's going to be faster than it's competition, it theoretically has 256MB of free RAM on boot since it can't multitask or run background processes.

Actually in S60V5 on my 5800XM the call pics are bigger. You get a full screen view when the phone is ringing, and during the call a nice half (or 2/3) screen faded view. Looks pretty slick IMO.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is the difference between the N97 NAM and euro? Last time I heard about the frequencies I thought I remembered there being just one version and it included US 3G (AT&T).

Thanks in advance.

ah yeah the m4r trick. Still a hoop to jump through, even if it's an easy one. OBEX could solve it, but that's one of the minor points and not a particularly huge one for me personally (I usually hate hearing phones ring period rely on simple soft beeps or just vibrate).

Wouldn't surprise me if there are some glitches in bluetooth implementation, but that's a different than deliberate subterfuge, carrier-initiated or no.

Google Translate seems to get worse and worse at translating Mobile-Review these days. Unfortunately, they don't post everything (anything?) interesting in English

o really ic.. but i would think nokia's experience would make their 30 fps better then theirs, kinda like how the same 5 mp can look different.

correct me if you think i'm incorrect

I dont suppose they have showed any part of the messaging aspect? I really think its about time that threaded messaging is something that should be default and not an application.
