*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I probably wouldn't even text using that phone, it would sit in the desktop charger looking pretty LOL. I wouldn't shell out any coin for it though, I almost had enough FidoDollars to get it free then Fido discontinued it

I recall Samsung did that same 1 mm haptic feedback on that fashion phone Armani - yes thats it. the membrane floats 1mm above the screen, both carry opposite poles and when connected complete a circuit right at the contact point and creates a sensation of vibration. Immersions I believe is much more advanced.

Its not about missing the apps for me..I just want everthing to work seamlessly, which my Iphone does...we all might hate it..i hate the keyboard..but it does "just work".
I will miss threaded sms..and yes i have read the thread about the software i can use for that, and i also read ALL the problems and complaints about it...Im going to keep my preorder..if i dont like it i will sell it, I got it for 500.

I think that some of you guys who chose this color over the white are not gonna happy campers when you finally have it in your hands. This thing is not even black.
The white looks soooo much better IMO:

I always suspect that it's not a solid black. This is actually work out better as I can't see myself using white, red may be.

The Chicago store opened at 8am. But the price was 699 so i left. I didn't want to play with it because i may have bought it. And now i'm late for work

When I listen to the guy and look at his hand..I was like wtf is he doing lol? But that was two different people, one was talking with his phone and the one on video was playing with N97.

The touch screen look very sensitive and look like it's a glass screen I guess. Camera is fast too!

I trust them for the sole fact that the symbian team is updating frequently and they have a specific roadmap. Symbian^2 is out this fall, and 4 comes out next year.

I have no intention at this point of purchasing a device until ^4 comes out because I have a feeling a lot of apps, devs, and phone owners are going to get lost in the sea of changes that are coming. I just hope nokia won't fall too far behind before they can finish the OS because it's not going to be good for them.

a 200$ phone beating the N97 in the phone aspect....I seriously doubt that...a 200$ phone is not even a smartphone.....
a 200$ camera...definitely, but that would mean extra space in my pocket...somethin to carry...i have the n97 everytime, anytime...
a 200$ touchscreen mp3 player with 32gb of space...is not even on the market...yes the 8gb ipod touch which cost 220$ would beat it...i have an 8gb ipod touch, and i'm hoping that the N97's music capabilities can at least be half of the music capabilities of the ipod touch's are. that would be good enough for me.
I know there are tradeoff to be made, and i'm happy to live with those as long as they are minor :)

Yup, a sucker like me who doesn't need the NAM version since with the NAM version, i can only use 3G on AT&T...I'd rather stick with T-Mobile and live with EDGE..

50 days until Comic Con.

I'm real excited about using the N97 there. I tried out the N95 8GB NAM and it was nice to have 3G on prepaid. I'll have switched my T-Mobile accounts to at&t by then.

Fact is, something that trivial should not be left up to a third party to develop and possibly charge for. A freaking on screen keyboard?

That's the whole reason I have no respect for the iPhone. Leaving out key features on purpose for the reason above. Not the sole reason, but one nonetheless.

I won't be getting the N97, for at least 3 months after release until people are praising it.

Can you guys take the BB OS talk and even S60 complaints/debate to another thread please. This one is supposed to be about N97.

It's June baby! :clapping:

S60 is just a bonus / asterisk. Definitely want more than a dumbphone/feature phone and definitely do not want WinMo. I wouldn't care if it was Android, though, or any other smartphone OS as long as they included the combined featureset and hardware and isn't under iron-fisted Godwin-law control.

Actually, E71 was the most talked out (worst-kept secret too) phone in it's days. N97 was officially announced and is still generating soo much "talk". E71 did that till it was launched, and was met with disapointment and excitement.

I've yet to see someone downplay the N97. Everything about it is fresh (please dont go all technical on me with regards to OS, I'm talking abt Ovi store and complete integration with Ovi services).

In the words of Blaxx "Is it June yet?"

You are not shoehorned into $30 data! I had a friend who got out of the data plan after the first month when he sold his phone.

Did they change their policy recently because I know plenty of people who did this.

It seems that as expected iPhone 3GS it's just an small incremental update, I hope bashers around here move to Apple forums to scream about Apple's lack of innovation so the noise level is reduced here haha.

The only thing I have to recognized is that they will start shipping in less than 2 weeks after the announcement (or at least they say that) and that they will update the actual iPhone.

Let's hope (or dream) Nokia will start shipping finally after months and that they will update N97 promptly to optimize the software and fix the usual bugs.
