*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Dude, keep that software to yourself as I need good HW upgrade. Enough of the N85/95/96/97 BS. :disappoin I am just waiting for RIM or Apple to upgrade their HW in multimedia area.. then I will be forgetting S60 for good.

Is it bad that I couldn't understand what was going on with the screen for half of that video from vietnam? The photo browser part was just embarassing LOL

Also making the call/end keys touch enabled instead of physical buttons=epic fail when trying to use the camera. :(

I believe the UI of the Ovi Store inherits the traits of the browser that is on the phone...I think AAS mentioned this. A N97 manager stated that eventually, kinetic scroll on the browser and auto hide side menu would appear on the 5800 in a future update, it was in one of the N97 preview videos...i forgot which one, possibly the TankGrl one.

Agreed. My only concerns at this point are RAM and messaging implementation from a business perspective to combine my N95 with my E71. Menu speed looks great so far but looking for other reviews. I'm on the fence with waiting to see if Nokia doesn't show us a large screened touch E-series device.

I will reply to your post shortly. But i will say that on all the web pages i use, the browser auto formats all text columns to fit the page at 100% zoom level. This was something i didn't quite get at first. I rarely double tap to zoom in closer than what the page defaults to when first loaded. Sure the page back needs an extra click. That sucks but really is not a big deal to me. I happen to have long finger nail so it honestly is super easy to click log in fields. Maybe that's why its so easy for me.

I'll try out papa joins site and try it out. But since i'm replying from my phone it might be tedious to break up your entire post to reply to each point right now. All i'm saying is that now that i'm used to the 5800 i'm efficient and as fast as my previous phones. So i wouldn't ever wanna give up this higher screen res.

If it was a glass I believe that they already would have mentioned it. Plus I remember seeing a video of N97 and there were tiny scuffs on the screen which suggests that it's plastic. I hope they make it glass for the production models.

Every1 got a taste of NokiaUSA customer service with Nokia 5800 Nam, people were fuming in forums. Most customers weren't even allowed to cancel their preorders, it's shady they said that an order can only be canceled within 5 minutes of placement when their hold times are 20-30 minutes, so don't get high hopes with N97.

Regarding N97 virtual keyboard, it will be easily added by installing a 3rd party app. Remember iPhone never had full landscape keyboard. A 345Kb app did the job perfectly fine! Somebody will surely develop 3rd party full virtual qwerty keyboard and it will have extra features, I've created few apps in the past and given away for free online so me and my friend can work on this simple app for virtual keyboard!

yah I'm still awe'd about the device. I sent my friend an email so see if he has any body-wraps for the phone yet. With the phone being a matte material, I'm glad I chose black. I feel white would absorb color fast. If it were a glossy material, I would have opted for the white.

I'm going to setup the phone and possibly look for an easier video convertor for videos. Man I'm excited!

Im sorry, this thread grew in size so fast..

Does anyone have size specs yet.. I was looking at a video on youtube, and if the screen is 3.5" and there is still that much phone space on both sides, the actual phone must be huge!

Whats the size specs?

I'd say it's better to not buy into "flagship" marketing schticks and leave the equation about the features desired versus the price one is willing and able to afford.

I still don't really like how nothing happens for a second or two after pressing something like the back button or how that guy had a massive fail trying to slide down the scroll bar at 1:50. New music widget looks great though-shows album art and has back and forward buttons.

Where was that taken at? Any other videos?

You're right, does look beautiful. Essentially the same tech as an iPhone screen without the glass, with much higher resolution, so not really that surprising to me. Can't wait.
